Breakdown

QUASIMODO: 20’s. Tenor. Quasimodo is the pure-hearted Hunchback of Notre Dame. The bastard son of Frollo’s brother and a gypsy woman, he is hideously deformed and partially deaf. Raised and sequestered by Frollo, he is torn between loyalty to his master and his longing to partake in the world beyond the bell tower. This physically demanding role will be played by a strong singer/actor.

DOM CLAUDE FROLLO: 50’s. Bass. **This role has been cast**

ESMERELDA: 25-35. Alto. **This role has been cast**

CAPTAIN PHOEBUS DE MARTIN: 30’s. High Baritone. Phoebus is the dashing and good-hearted Captain of the Cathedral Guard. His love for Esmerelda puts him at odds with Dom Frollo, and causes a rift between his call to duty and what he knows to be right.

CLOPIN TROUILLEFOU: 30’s – 40’s. High Baritone. Clopin is King of the Gypsies. He is charming, mischievous, and has a flair for the dramatic. He serves as a protector of the estranged Gypsies and warns Esmerelda to not draw undesired attention.

ENSEMBLE –20’s. Men and Women. Strong singer/actors comfortable with movement. Open to all ethnicities. Ages 28 to 50. Men and women of all shapes, sizes and vocal types; who have strong singing voices and personalities to play many ensemble roles Many will be playing multiple roles. The lyrics should be clear and service the storytelling
