CONTRACT

SPT category/salary pending. 2018 minimum: Cat 4 $425/week

SEEKING

Equity actor/singers for various roles. All Roles are Available. All ethnicities are encouraged to attend. See breakdown.

PREPARATION

Please prepare 32 bars of a song from the show or a song of similar style, and a monologue of your choice. For the role of Henry, no song is needed. For the role of The Mute, please prepare a short scene of silent physical acting of any variety.

Rehearsals begin on June 3rd, Opening on June 28th, with performances on Thursdays at 2pm, Thursdays at 7pm, Fridays at 7pm, Saturdays at 8pm, and Sundays at 2pm until July 14th. These exact dates are subject to change, but the date range is set.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

BREAKDOWN

The Narrator (El Gallo)
A rakish, handsome, sophisticated gallant and narrator of the show. He is warm, cordial, and inviting to the audience, but has his own darker moments. He aids the performers in orchestrating the story.

The Girl (Luisa)
A button-maker's young and pretty daughter, she is a romantic idealist who falls in love with Matt. She is naive, yet honest and tender.
Gender: Female
Age: 15 to 25

The Boy (Matt)
An innocent, young man who is searching for love and adventure. A bright guy, but naive and even foolish at times, approaching situations with a false bravado.

Age: 18 to 25

The Boy's Father (Hucklebee)
A former boisterous navy man and meticulous gardener who fakes a fight with Bellomy in hopes of getting their children to fall in love.

The Girl's Father (Bellomy)
A fastidious button-maker and also a picky gardener who fakes a fight with Hucklebee in hopes of getting their children together.

The Actor (Henry)
An aging, over-the-top Thespian who specializes in reciting Shakespeare, he is a commedia clown; his world is the stage and he knows no other reality.
