SEEKING
Seeking actors and understudies, age 18 and over, to portray characters in the setting of Ancient China. All ethnicities and genders encouraged to audition. See breakdown of roles below.

BREAKDOWN
EMPEROR CHIN (mid-late 20s, Asian Male) A handsome ruler with a commanding presence. He is tortured by not having the one thing he wants, the Nightingale. After losing both parents at sea, his power turns to greed and selfishness. He is part dashing fairytale prince and part wounded man. Must be comfortable with comedy and physicality. Knowledge of Tai Chi or martial arts is a plus.
MAJOR MI (20s-40s, Asian Male) The Emperor’s right hand. A court jester of sorts who is very comfortable with comedy and physical comedy (tumbling a plus). A very likeable man with a childlike innocence. Knowledge of Tai Chi or martial arts is a plus.
LADY EU/JADE (20-30, Asian Female) The Emperor’s feisty chef who doubles as Jade Song who is transformed from the Nightingale. She is beautiful from the inside and carries herself with great strength and poise. Must be comfortable with comedy. This character does a fan dance. Knowledge of Tai Chi or martial arts is a plus.
MRS. WU (Asian Female to play a young Grandmother-type) The wise sage who acts as caretaker to the Emperor’s majestic gardens. A rich voice and a young spirit along with good movement skills are a must. Must be comfortable with comedy. This character does fan dance. Knowledge of Tai Chi is a plus.
