SEEKING

Equity actors for various roles. Especially seeking theater artists who would like to join a strong existing ensemble company, with a deep commitment to mentorship. This is the 24th season of Free Shakespeare in the Park

Stage Manager positions are available. See separate notice on Casting Call for more details.

PREPARATION

Prepare 2 contrasting Shakespeare monologues, no more than 24 lines of verse (or 90 seconds of prose), if you have an instrument or would like to sing 30 seconds (a cappella), you may prepare that as well.

Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

Each time slot is an hour long. Approximately 8 actors will be assigned to each slot and invited into the audition room at the same time for an hour. The members audition together in the room, providing an audience for the other members of the group.

An Equity Monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of audition.

BREAKDOWN

In reference to the character descriptions below - most characters we encounter currently are on the binary and are written with the he/him or she/her pronouns and you will see that they are in the following descriptions. But, however limiting the descriptions are, our casting seeks to be as inclusive as possible and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with. We will also list race/ethnicity when specific to the character but are otherwise seeking all races and ethnicities. As an ADA compliant theatre, we welcome performers of all abilities and will make all reasonable accommodations in order to cast performers, regardless of disability, in any role possible. Please let us know if you have any questions, concerns, or if there are any accommodations we can provide.

Antipholus of Syracuse - The twin brother of Antipholus of Ephesus and the son of Egeon.

Antipholus of Ephesus - The twin brother of Antipholus of Syracuse and the son of Egeon; Adriana's husband.

Dromio of Syracuse - The comical servant of Antipholus of Syracuse. He is the twin brother of Dromio of Ephesus.

Dromio of Ephesus - The comical servant of Antipholus of Ephesus. He is the Syracusan Dromio's twin brother.

Adriana - The wife of Antipholus of Ephesus.

Luciana - Adriana's unmarried sister and the object of Antipholus of Syracuse's affections.

Solinus - The Duke of Ephesus.

Egeon - A Syracusan merchant, husband of the Abbess (Emilia), and the father of the two Antipholi.

Abbess - Emilia, the long-lost wife of Egeon and the mother of the two Antipholi.

Balthasar - A merchant in Syracuse.

Angelo - A goldsmith in Syracuse and a friend to Antipholus of Ephesus.

Merchant - An Ephesian friend of Antipholus of Syracuse.

Second Merchant - A tradesman to whom Angelo is in debt.

Doctor Pinch - A schoolteacher, conjurer, and would-be exorcist

Luce - Also called Nell. Antipholus of Ephesus' prodigiously fat maid and Dromio of Ephesus' wife.

Courtesan - An expensive prostitute and friend of Antipholus of Ephesus.
