Seeking:

Della (40s – 60s) – White female. A baker in Winston-Salem, faced with a difficult choice that shakes her world. She’s optimistic, generous, naïve, and a rule-follower. Della was best friends with Jen’s mother before her death. She deeply loves Jen, her bakery, and buttercream. Scenes involving physical intimacy and partial nudity.

Tim (40s – 60s) White male. Della’s husband. A good ol’ boy who is struggling to understand the changes that Della is going through. He is easily embarrassed by conversations about sex and aging, but deeply loves his wife. Scenes involving physical intimacy and partial nudity.

Jen (mid 20s - early 30s) White female. Jen has dreamt of her wedding day her whole life and has always wanted Della to bake the cake. Jen is feeling the tension between the two worlds of her conservative Southern upbringing and her progressive Brooklyn life. She doesn't fully accepted in either place. A people-pleaser, Jen is learning to ask for what she needs. Some physical intimacy.

Macy (mid 20s - early 30s) African American female. Jen’s fiancée. Macy does not believe in the institution of marriage and feels very out of place in North Carolina. Macy passionately argues for her political views, sometimes putting being right ahead of others’ feelings. She is unafraid of conflict and can be brusque. Macy loves Jen and is coming to terms with their different upbringings. Some physical intimacy.

There will be an intimacy choreographer hired for this production.
