TAKE THE LEAD

A NOTE ABOUT DANCE:

We are searching for talented hip hop dancers who possess a unique and captivating performance style, particularly those skilled in breaking, popping, locking, and other foundation techniques.

Additionally, we offer ensemble opportunities for individuals with specialized ballroom skills. We welcome dancers who excel in various Ballroom and American-style dances, including Foxtrot, Waltz, Tango, Cha-cha, Swing, Bolero, Rumba, Merengue, and Mambo. Proficiency in social nightclub dances such as West Coast Swing, Hustle, Salsa, and Argentine Tango is also highly desirable.

Ultimately, the fusion of these two dance styles will be seamless, and we invite all dancers to maintain an open-minded approach and a strong willingness to embrace diverse dance styles.

SEEKING:

[ENSEMBLE SINGERS] Excellent singer/dancers with hop-hop and or partner dancing ability.

[Alan Ford] Early 40s to Early 50s, any race. Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). Also a former ballroom champion (though always placing second to Pierre). Alan is Pierre's romantic partner of nine years as well as his partner in their ballroom academy. Despite his love for Pierre, Alan has a more balanced, pragmatic side in business, and he is also more concerned with each student getting equal attention,

which puts him at odds with Pierre’s take-no-prisoners style. Good singer. Some ballroom dance ability.

[Eddie] 17, Black/Brown, Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). A wise guy and joker, prone to failing courses and being comically self-deprecating about it. Friendly and outgoing. Vocal Range: Tenor/Rapper. Hip-hop dancer.

[Miguel] 17, Brown. Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). Fancies himself a skilled lover. He’s not. Vocal Range: Baritone. Hip-hop dancer.

[Kurd] 16, white. Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). Gangly, energetic, but not entirely comfortable in his own skin — which leads him to try to copy the style and speech patterns of the other kids at Drake despite it not quite looking or sounding right on him. Vocal Range: Tenor. Hip-hop dancer.

[Styx] 17, any race. Any gender (cis, trans, or non-binary). A quiet, Goth-style “dark cloud,” constantly refusing to dance due to various injuries which may or may not be real. Styx is a still water that runs deep, as we discover when Pierre asks them to function as class DJ and their musical abilities come to the fore. Vocal Range: Any. EXCELLENT hip-hop dance specialist.

[Monster] 17, Black. Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). A big kid with a big heart, but deeply shy. When paired up with Caitlin, their partnership soon becomes something more. Vocal Range: Bass/Baritone. Hip-hop dance ability.

[Daniel] 18, Black. Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). Rock’s older brother, often getting into trouble with the law and anxious to make sure Rock stays close by his side. Vocal Range: Bass or Baritone. Hip hop dance ability.

[Lance] 17, any race. Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). Morgan’s talented but slightly scattered partner. Excellent dancer with ballroom ability. Vocal Range: Any

[Superintendent O’Hara] 50s, any race. Male (cis, trans, or non-binary). the Drake High district superintendent. A bureaucrat who has very little time for anything that doesn’t show a fast, demonstrable result, though he’s willing to be swayed by a convincing argument. Currently on his plate: finding a new Drake principal and balancing the school budget by cutting non-essential programs. Vocal Range: Any.
