SEEKING

Equity actors for roles in Syracuse Stage and Syracuse University 2023-24 Season (see breakdown).

Some roles will be understudied.

PREPARATION

Please prepare two contrasting 1-to-2-minute monologues OR if singing, one 1-to-2-minute comedic OR dramatic monologue and a brief cut of a song (bring sheet music). Please bring a headshot with resume attached by staples.

Heidi – Female presenting, presently 40s, White, based on Heide Schreck, a former debate champion who grapples with whether the Constitution should continue to exist. Alternates from adulthood to her 15-year-old self throughout the play.

Mike – Male presenting, 40s, any ethnicity, represents positive male energy, kind and open. Debater - *This role has been cast.

THUNDER KNOCKING ON THE DOOR

NOTE: All Roles are African American. All sing and dance well. However, strong emphasis will be on acting. Triple threats are always welcome. Actors do not have to play the guitar, but it helps.

Marvel Thunder: 30-40s Male presenting, singer who moves well.

Glory Dupree: Mid 20-30s Female presenting, Strong singer with strong belt, moves well.

Jaguar: Mid 20-30s Male presenting, strong dancer, athlete who sings and is a good comic.

Good Sister: 40s, Female presenting, attractive, sexy and vivacious, singer, Mother of Glory and Jaguar.

Dregster: 40s-50s, Male presenting, sings and moves well. Doubles as his Twin Brother, Jaguar Sr.

Bob Cratchit: Male Presenting, White, 35-45. An excellent singer, physically agile, with a deep emotional well and excellent language skills. Capable of true joy, honest comedy and deep grief. A loving father and husband. Baritone

Montrellous 40s-50s African American Male presenting, wise head chef at Clydes; inspires a radical energy in his colleagues.

Clyde 30s - 40s African American Female presenting, the no nonsense boss at Clyde’s Sandwich shop; full of mystery.

Letitia 20s-30s, African American female presenting, a young mother who would do anything for her child, full of life and passion whilst feeling stuck.

Rafael 20s-30s, Latino male presenting, a romantic employee at Clyde’s looking for purpose in his work and life.

Jason 20s-30s, White Male presenting, fresh out of jail and covered in white supremacist tattoos, trying to make a life outside in his new reality.

AGATHA CHRISTIE’S MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS

HERCULE POIROT, Male presenting; 50s-60s - A famous Belgian detective; a big personality; authoritative, witty, charismatic and slightly pompous; driven to find the answers, good or bad, with a strong moral sense; very aware of his ability and his well-deserved reputation.

MONSIEUR BOUC Male presenting; 40s-60s - A Belgian man of good humor; playful, proud, generous; a predilection for grandeur; a whirlwind of energy; an excellent comedian.

MARY DEBENHAM Female presenting; 30s-40s - An English beauty; a governess, capable yet romantic; a sadness around her eyes and a hardness about her person.

HECTOR MACQUEEN Male presenting; 30s-40s - Tightly wound, edgy and nervous; he seems to always be on the verge of falling apart or coming unwound.

MICHEL THE CONDUCTOR/MARCEL Male presenting; 40s-50s - Michel: a good-looking Frenchman, about 40, a quiet, almost grave sense of humor; unfailingly polite. / Marcel: a Turkish waiter, snooty, smooth; great comic timing.

PRINCESS DRAGOMIROFF Female presenting; 60s-70s - A Russian dowager; very formal, a sweeping, impressive presence; imperial, impatient.

GRETA OHLSSON Female presenting; 20s-40s - Inherently odd, and very devout Swedish woman; a frightened, sheeplike quality; an excellent comedienne with an impeccable Swedish accent.

COUNTESS ANDRENYI Female presenting; late 20s-30s - Brilliantly beautiful, like something out of a fairytale; impeccably put together, with a warmth that wins over everyone she meets; her delicacy belies a steely edge; she is no wilting flower; Hungarian accent.

Seeking performers with dynamic personalities who connect with an audience, maintain strong vocals of a Pop/Contemporary Musical Theater sound with the ability to tell a story through song, and command the stage. Actors who play their own instruments are encouraged to audition.
