BREAKDOWN

MAIN SERIES

IF I FORGET
by Steven Levenson
Contract – SPT 10, $747 minimum weekly

Scheduled Show Dates: September 9th, 2018 – October 7th, 2018
Possible Ext. Close: November 4th, 2018

Setting:
An old two story peeling paint white colonial on a quiet residential street in Tenley town, a white, upper-middle class neighborhood in Northwest Washington D.C. At the end of the twentieth century

Seeking:

LOU FISCHER
Male. 75. Smart, sensitive, caring. A Jewish WWII veteran, proud of his family and Jewish heritage. Now retired, he is the landlord of a store that has been in the family over 100 years. His wish is to pass on this legacy to the next generation, but his children have other plans for the store.

HOLLY FISCHER
Female. 48. Lou's oldest daughter. Jewish, but only goes to synagogue a couple times a year. Her dress and manner reflect a lifestyle that comes with being married to a successful lawyer. She thinks highly of herself, is brash, and freely speaks her mind, often times at the expense of others. Despite all this, she means well and genuinely cares for her family.

MICHAEL FISCHER
Male. 45. Lou's son. Cynical, self-centered, slightly neurotic, and a workaholic. A Jewish Studies professor who happens to be an atheist. Seeking tenure, he writes a manuscript about the Holocaust and dedicates it to his father. When his father does not acknowledge the dedication, Michael becomes uneasy, adding to his already strained relationship with his family.

SHARON FISCHER
Female. 39. Lou's youngest daughter. Jewish. Sentimental and proud of her heritage. A kindergarten teacher and Lou's primary caregiver. Strongly resents her siblings for being too consumed in their own lives to help deal with their ailing father's welfare. Tired of unfair treatment by her older siblings, she stands up for herself and their threats against the family’s legacy.

ELLEN MANNING
Female. 43. Michael’s wife. Not Jewish. Kind, calm, and the voice of reason when tensions arise between Michael and his siblings. Supportive of her husband’s career, but eventually realizes the stress of his work may be too much for their relationship to handle.

HOWARD KILBERG
Male. 51. Holly's husband. Jewish. A corporate lawyer. Bit of a pushover and foolish, but his intentions are noble. Not fully welcomed into the family by his in-laws, he awkwardly inserts himself in conversations to feel included. When the family does acknowledge him, they are usually looking to him for financial support.

JOEY OREN
Male.18+ to play 16. Holly's son. A smart and socially awkward teen. Has some behavioral issues; not violent, just acts out to get attention. Generally indifferent toward his family, but shows concern during trying times. Likes video games, performing magic, and Arizona iced tea.

CRY IT OUT
by Molly Smith Metzler
Contract – SPT 10, $747 minimum weekly

Scheduled Show Dates: November 18th, 2018 – December 16th, 2018
Possible Ext. Close: January 6th, 2019

Setting:
Jessie’s backyard in Port Washington, Long Island. Present Day.

Seeking:
JESSIE
Female, Mid 30s. Educated, articulate, and absolutely lovely. Originally from the Chicago, she carries a Mid-Western warmth with her wherever she goes. Jessie is currently on maternity leave from her job as a corporate lawyer, where she works 90 hour weeks. Jessie spends most of her time nursing Allie, her child, and having daily together time with Lina, her neighbor.

LINA
Female, Late 20s/Early 30s. Italian. Neighbor to Jessie. Wears acrylic nails, big hoops, velour track suits, and has a huge Italian family. Lina is unapologetically from the South Shore of Long Island. She curses way too much, failed out of community college and has been sober for four years now. She has a newborn baby boy, Max, but is not married quite yet. Lina above all is fun, funny and refreshingly genuine.

MITCHELL
Late 30s/Early 40s or Slightly Older. Adrienne’s husband. Works in investment capital and is a math nerd who is amazing with numbers but not people. Becoming a father has changed him. He is now able to be a goofy at the appropriate times, and knows it is okay to sometimes show his sensitive side. He is deeply drawn to his newborn child, and wishes his wife felt the same.

ADRIENNE
Mid/Late 30s. Wife to Mitchell. The kind of woman you see climbing out of a dark sedan at JFK who you just know is going somewhere cool. Adrienne grew up on Central Park West, attended posh boarding schools, studied art abroad, and could give you the best-ever guided tour of MoMA. She has never signed an e-mail with an x or an o, but she is loyal and ferocious in both business and life. A successful jewelry designer. Adrienne is also mother to a newborn, however, would rather hand this responsibility off to the trusted nanny.

Seeking:

LAUREN
Female. 30s

KATE
Female. 30s
Lauren’s former girlfriend. Also a lobbyist although not as financially successful. Less of a game player, more direct and honest. Yale educated, direct, sometimes rudely so, somewhat feisty, pragmatic but with some ideals intact. Both parents are lawyers. Some level of privilege.

SYDNEY MILLSAP

Representative for Dallas. Formerly an accountant she entered politics with sincere ideals but has been beaten down somewhat by the demands of fundraising and attending events. A Gold Star widow whose husband was killed in Iraq, she is also bringing up a young son. Dour, serious, dryly humorous occasionally. Decides to challenge the leading candidate for President, Senator McDowell, unprepared for the backlash.

JOHN MCDOWELL
Male. 60s.
Senator for Texas. Long time politician. Avuncular, powerful, humorous, manipulative. Running for President, with the complacent expectation of being unchallenged. Warm and generous but a true politician. Blindsided by an unconventional campaign he nonetheless emerges able to forge a new avenue of influence and continue playing the game.

P.Y.G. or THE MIS-EDUMACATION OF DIORAN BELLE
by Tearrance Arvelle Chisholm
Contract – SPT 8, $601 minimum weekly

Scheduled Show Dates: December 16th, 2018 – January 6th, 2019
Possible Ext. Close: February 3rd, 2019

Setting: TV studios for the filming of The Mis-Edumacation of Dorian Belle; a ski slope in Canada; various TV commercial broadcasts; a music festival

Seeking:
All actors must be able to sing and dance (hip/hop and other styles)

DORIAN BELLE:
Male. 21. White
A former child star, pop singer, whose career was largely directed by his mother from whom he has now split. Dorian is looking for street cred/blackness to improve his popular image. A TV show follows his efforts to work on this with the other two characters. Dorian is wealthy, famous, largely naïve, seemingly superficial but ultimately finds his strength.

BLACKY BLACKERSON, aka BLACK:
Male. 21. Black.
One part of P.Y.G. rap/hip hop performers. Wants to be more ‘street’ than his background supports. Angry but curious. Willing to compromise for money and flirts with success through a whitening of his product. Verbally more outrageous than his partner but often poetic. Participates initially reluctantly in the TV show about Dorian then starts enjoying himself more, until Charlottesville.

ALEXAND DA GREAT:
Male. 21. Black
The other half of P.Y.G. Initially more polite than Blacky, and often translates for him. Eloquent, often poetic too, also idealistic and politically motivated. Also had a pushing mother with ambitions for him. Dry humor. Seems to be driving the duo’s participation in the TV show but eventually pulls away from it more fully than Blacky.
