Breakdown

In the Fall of 2014, San Jose Rep on Tour will be presenting MOBY DICK by Mark Rosenwinkel directed by Karen Piemme that will tour to area middle schools and high schools. Actors are on an actor/asm contract

For Moby Dick: all roles are open to both genders.

Ishmael - The narrator, and a junior member of the crew of the Pequod. Much of the story unfolds through Ishmael's eloquent discourse on whales and on whaling. Possess a romantic love of the sea.

Ahab - The captain of the Pequod. Dictatorial, but not unfair. Has a compassionate side. Is singularly focused on the pursuit of the whale (Moby Dick), to which Ahab lost a leg.

Queequeg - A skilled harpooner, and Ishmael's best friend. A native south sea islander who stowed away on a whaling ship in search of adventure. A brave and generous sailor.

Stubb - The second mate of the Pequod. Has a mischievous good humor. Easy-going. Gets along well with others. Trusts in fate and doesn't place too much significance in any one thing.
All should be able to sing.

Christmas Carol 2.0 is a one hour version of the Dickens tale. It is told by a cast of four men and two women, all playing multiple roles. It is performed at San Jose Rep, students are bused in from schools in Santa Clara county. It involves early morning calls/morning performances. Actors are on an actor/asm contract.
