CRIME AND PUNISHMENT (3m/1w)
Actor 1, male: plays Raskolnikov – A former student, now destitute, living in a cramped apartment. Raskolnikov has committed the murder and is wrestling with his conscience over having done so (many of the scenes in which we see him are flashbacks to before the crime).

Actor 2, female plays Sonya - Raskolnikov’s love and Marmeladov’s daughter. Sonya is forced to prostitute herself to support herself and the rest of her family. Soft spoken and (but for the prostitution) a chaste individual. Strongly religious.
Alyona Ivanovna - An old, pawnbroker to whom Raskolnikov owes money. Mercilessly frugal, she provides little return and demands extremely high interest rates from the (mostly poor) people who come to her to pawn their few precious items.
Mother - Raskolnikov’s mother. Pulcheria Alexandrovna Raskolnikov

Actor 3, male: plays Porfiry Petrovich is the magistrate in charge of investigating the murders. He has a shrewd understanding of criminal psychology and is exquisitely aware of Raskolnikov’s mental state at every step along the way from the crime to the confession. He tries a variety of tactics (usually of the “good cop” variety) to get Raskolnikov to slip and reveal himself.
Marmeladov - An alcoholic public official whom Raskolnikov meets at a tavern. Marmeladov is fully aware that his drinking is ruining himself and his family, but he is unable to stop. Marmeladov is Sonya’s father.
Tradesman – A shadowy vision of an accusatory man. Raskolnikov sees him and thinks people know he’s committed the murders.
