The Sunset Limited is a searing two-person drama which combines pathos and humor as the lives and beliefs of two strangers converge. A despondent college professor, played by Emmy Award-winner Joe Spano (Rubicon productions of Sylvia, R. Buckminster Fuller… and Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?), is rescued from desperate circumstances by a former convict. Set in and around a dilapidated Connecticut farmhouse in 1923, this American classic follows Josie Hogan, a boisterous Irish woman with a quick tongue and a tender heart; and Jim Tyrone, a tortured soul haunted by the loss of his mother. Pulitzer Prize-winner and Nobel laureate Eugene O’Neill creates a mythic tale of old sins and the power of love. COLLECTED STORIES | Drama
By Donald Margulies
Directed by James O’Neil

Emmy Award-winning actress Susan Clark stars in this compelling play about respect, rivalry, betrayal and honor. The story follows the rise and fall of a friendship between two woman writers: Ruth Steiner, a teacher and respected short-story writer, and her protégée Lisa Morrison. Over the course of six years, Lisa journeys from insecure student to successful writer. After publishing a well-received collection of stories, Lisa writes a novel based on Ruth's affair with the poet Delmore Schwartz. The play poses the question of whether a person's life events are suitable for another to use in their own creative process. According to the New York Times, “the emotional current” of the play takes on a “sweeping, electric life.”
