Breakdown

BECCA: late thirties/early forties. Grieving mother. Uncompromising and tough. Has shut down emotionally from her child’s death. Puts on the appearance of being able to handle daily activities but in reality she is only partially there. She cannot tolerate insincerity or impracticality.

HOWIE: late thirties/early forties. Becca’s husband. Patient. Not weak. Visibly more emotional than Becca in coping with the loss of his son. Does an amazing job at pretending that everything is fine.

IZZY: late twenties, early thirties. Becca’s dizzily hyper, but not clueless, sister. She is a perennial party girl and slightly irresponsible. She has a profound depth of understanding and an eager readiness to learn how to be responsible. In a sense, she is still learning who she is.

NAT: sixties. Becca and Izzy’s mother. Wants to make everything alright but is a specialist at putting her foot in her mouth. She loves a great drink almost as much as her opinions.

JASON: 20's to play 17. Accidentally killed Becca and Howie’s son. Awkward and slightly nerdy. He has a gentle cockiness about him.
