PERFORMERS ENCOURAGED TO SUBMIT.

Seeking versatile musical theatre performers with comedic flair. All performers must be able to carry tight harmonies and move well. This is an ACTOR/ASM contract.

ALL ACTORS ARE SIGNED AS ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGERS (ASMs) and will be required, as such, to lift scenery and sound equipment during daily load-in and load outs (up to 60 lbs). All actors participate in assembling and disassembling the set at each venue and school at which they perform.

This is a touring production. The company travels by car & van to theaters and schools.

NYC based actors are encouraged to submit.

PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS:

Prepare a short contemporary up-tempo Musical Theater/pop song that showcases your range OR material from show (which can be found at: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3jtzh2xv9dc8u7w/AACeo0L 19KvXUnBotoc1BXua?dl=0 ). Sing in the octave that best suits your voice.

STORYLINE:

Lights! Cameras! Action! When Pete the Cat and his buddy Callie sneak into the Hollywood Studios, they get lost in the world of the movies! Join Pete, Callie, Ethyl the Apatosaurus, and Robo-Pete & others in this rockin’ new musical adventure that features several fun-filled books from the PETE THE CAT book series by Kimberly Dean and James Dean.

SEEKING:

PETE THE CAT (he, him, his) Pete the Cat is a super zen rockin’ cat with blue fur. Dreamy and enthusiastic. He is the life of the party but sometimes gets carried away. Easily distracted. Best buds with Callie the Calico. VOCAL RANGE: Tenor. B to high Ab.

CALLIE THE CALICO (she, her, hers) Callie the Cat is a brainy cat who loves the movies. Best buds with Pete. Observant and kind and a quick study with any subject or skill. She is laser focused and unafraid to lay down the law with her friend, Pete the Cat. VOCAL RANGE: A to Eb (belt or mixy belt).

ETHYL THE APOTOSAURUS & OTHERS (she, her, hers) Ethyl is a shy dinosaur who opens up to PETE and CALLIE on their adventure. Sings a lament. Mezzo-soprano belter who can bring the house down. Will double as other character roles in the track including a bus driver, tourist, Pirate Skull-n Bones, Little Squirrel, Cowgirl, Marcy, and NASA Assistant. VOCAL RANGE: Mezzo-belt G to C (solo) and D (ensemble).

SECURITY GUARD & OTHERS (she, her, hers) A seemingly tough security guard who loves Hollywood but, is actually a big producer in disguise. Doubles as a wide variety of character roles including Mrs. Calico, Pirate Whiskers, Terri the Pterosaur, Gus the Platypus, Lisa, NASA Lady, and Big Producer. VOCAL RANGE: Mezzo. G to Eb.

ROBO-PETE & OTHERS (he, him, his) Robo-Pete is Pete's over-zealous best friend who is the BEST at everything he does. Doubles as several other character roles in the track including Mr. Tourist, Moby the Sea Monster, T-Rex, and Grumpy Toad. Performer must be able to creatively sustain robotic behavior as well as support and manipulate the tentacles of a large sea monster drummer. VOCAL RANGE: Tenor (Ab) one low A as Mo (not solo) — one comic high Ab (could be mixed).
