Prepare either 1) a two minute monologue in the style of STEEL MAGNOLIAS, OR 2) a brief song from or in the style of one of the season's musicals OR 3) a one minute monologue and a brief song in the style of the show(s). Song should show range in your material Bring sheet music in correct key; accompanist provided but may not transpose.

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Please note: These auditions are open to Equity members only. Show specific open auditions for all performers will be held in 2012.

All ethnicities are encouraged to audition. Songs listed by characters are suggestions only; not requirements.

STEEL MAGNOLIAS

1st full company rehearsal: Monday, 4/9/12. Runs: 4/20/12 - 4/29/12

A touching and humorous look at life as experienced by six very different but ultimately close Southern women. Author's note: The women in this play are witty, intelligent and above all, real characters. They in no way, shape or form are meant to be portrayed as cartoons or characters. All female cast includes:

Truvy Jones: 40ish. Owner of the beauty shop.

Annelle Dupuy-DeSoto: 19. Beauty shop assistant.

Shelby Eatenton-Latcherie: 25. Prettiest gril in town.

M'Lynn Eatenton: 50ish. Shelby's mother. Socially prominent career woman.

Ouiser (pronounced "Weezer") Boudreaux: 66ish. Wealthy curmudgeon. Acerbic but loveable.

OLIVER!

Book, music and lyrics by Lionel Bart. Based on Charles Dickens' "Oliver Twist."

1st full company rehearsal: Monday, 7/2/12. Runs: 7/15/12 – 7/22/21

Oliver Twist: Soprano. A workhouse boy about 9 to 13 years of age. Should be no taller than 5'3. Song suggestions: "Where is Love" and "Who Will Buy."

The Artful Dodger: Soprano. 9 to 16 in appearance. Brightest member of Fagin's gang. Song suggestion: "Consider Yourself."

Fagin: Baritone. Older con man. Runs a training academy for young pickpockets. Song suggestion: "Reviewing the Situation."

Nancy: Alto. Mid 20s - 30s. Cockney barmaid, graduate of Fagin's academy, Bill Sykes girlfriend. Song suggestion: "As Long As He Needs Me."

Bill Sykes: Baritone. 30s - 50s. A villian.

Mr. Bumble - The Beadle: Baritone. 50s. A large pompous man; runs the workhouse. Song suggestion: "Boy for Sale."

Widow Corney: Soprano. 30s - 50s. Domineering widow; the Workhouse Mistress.

Mr. Sowerberry (also plays Dr. Grimwig): Baritone. 40s to 60. The undertaker (and a doctor.)

Mrs. Sowerberry (also plays Mrs. Bedwin): Soprano. 40s to 60. Mr. Sowerberry's wife (and Brownlow's housekeeper.)

Mr. Brownlow: Any vocal range. 60 - 85. A kind old gentleman of wealth and breeding.

Bet: Principal, alto. Nancy's young, loyal friend.

Also casting Charlotte, Noah Claypole and other chorus and specialty parts.

LEGALLY BLONDE

Music and lyrics by Laurence O' Keefe and Nell Benjamin. Book by Heather Hach.

Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer motion picture.

1st full company rehearsal: Monday, 9/24/12. Runs: 10/9/12 10/14/12

Elle Woods: Soprano belt. Pretty, bubbly, Delta Nu Sorority college girl who heads to law school to prove she has more to offer than her looks.

Margot: Soprano belt. Pretty and funny Delta Nu.

Serena: Soprano belt. Spirited and sassy Delta Nu.

Pilar: Soprano belt. Bossy and feisty Delta Nu.

Emmett Forrest: Tenor. Smart and sensitive law student; charming with understated good looks.

Paulette: Soprano Belt. Brash and funny hair stylist friend of Elle's. Looking for a man.

Professor Callahan: Baritone. A pompous and manipulative Harvard law professor; a shark.

Warner Huntington III: Tenor. Good-looking, arrogant ex-boyfriend of Elle.

Vivienne Kensington: Huge soprano belt. Smart and savvy law student who in the end becomes Elle's friend.

Brooke Wyndham: Alto or soprano. Exercise video star and former sorority girl. Has great, athletic but feminine physique and a heart of gold.

Enid: Soprano belt. Mousy, intellectual law student.

Also casting Delta Nu's, students, Greek chorus, defense team, salon folks, parade folks and chorus parts and specialties.
