Preparation
Actors need to prepare two contrasting monologues. Both monologues should total 3 minutes in time. All actors will provide an updated headshot/resume, and list any foreseeable conflicts. Professional attire is strongly recommended.

Though Equity performers have priority over time slots, on the day of the auditions, Equity performers without appointments shall be accommodated as time permits.

Theatre does not have the ability to provided housing for out-of-town actors.

Please be aware that the theatre's BOOMFROG! Series is a non-Equity only series; MAINSTAGE Series works under an AEA Special Appearance contract.

· A monitor will not be provided. The producer will run all aspects of this audition.

MAINSTAGE; SOUTH FLORIDA PREMIERE

SYNOPSIS:
VISITING HOURS by David Caudle
Coral Gables, Florida. The Present. A Lesbian couple's longtime relationship is threatened when their estranged adult son resurfaces, having been arrested for Aggravated Assault. Their struggle mirrors that of any couple faced with the prospect that their child will never be “okay.” Miami native David Caudle’s engaging drama Visiting Hours, questions whether parents can ever escape the guilt for the sins of their children.

SETTING:
Present Day. The living-room/kitchen area of an apartment over a detached garage in the back yard of a posh home in Coral Gables, Florida.

CHARACTERS:

SHELLY - Mid-30s (but passes for early 20s). A mysterious stranger.

NAT - 60s. A wealthy woman in Coral Gables, FL.

MARIAN - 50s. Nat's friend and carriage house tenant.

BETH - 50. Marian’s longtime Lesbian lover.

PAUL - 30. Marian's troubled adult son.

GIDION’S KNOT

MAIN STAGE; SOUTH FLORIDA PREMIERE.

- Washington Magazine called it a “heart-stopping new show!”

SYNOPSIS:
During a rather contentious parent-teacher conference, an emotionally fraught 5th grade Teacher and a grieving mother, discuss the tragic circumstances that led to the students/sons (Gidion) suspension from school. Gidion’s Knot is a heart-wrenching collision examining freedom of expression, the failure of the school system, bullying, and the emotional impact of feelings of personal culpability. Written by Princess Grace Award winner, Johnna Adams.

SETTING:
A fifth grade classroom in a public school in the Lake Forest suburb of Chicago. Early April. The present year. Tuesday. 2:45 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

CHARACTERS:

HEATHER CLARK: 30s - 50s; All Ethnicities; a 5th grade teacher;

CORRYN FELL: 30s - 50s; All Ethnicities; mother of a 5th grade student
