Equity and non-equity actor/singers who move well for various roles in Man of La Mancha and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. See breakdown.
For Man of La Mancha – Hispanic, Middle Eastern, and African-American actors, as well as any actors with professional stage combat experience, are strongly encouraged to audition. Also seeking actors who are strong guitar players.
PREPARATION
Two, contrasting, one-minute musical theatre selections in the styles of the shows. Bring sheet music in your key and be prepared to sing additional songs if requested. An accompanist will be provided.
For Man of La Mancha – If you wish to be considered for a specific role, your selection may be from the score. Actors auditioning for the Onstage Guitarist/Prisoner role should bring their guitars and be prepared to demonstrate their ability at the audition.

Cervantes/Quixote – late 40s-50s, tall and thin; a man of gentle courtliness leavened by humor, stylish verve and gusto, a childlike delight in play-acting, great charm and presence; ability to play guitar a plus; strong actor/singer who moves well; baritone (Bb3-G4)
Manservant/Sancho – 40s-50s, short and round; suspicious, pragmatic, with a cautiously wry sense of humor and a deeply genuine devotion to his master; ability to play guitar a plus; strong actor/singer who moves well; tenor (C3-A4)
Aldonza – 30s, a savage, earthy, dark alley-cat survivor with a raw sexuality and a hard-edge that masks a deep pain and vulnerability; strong actor/singer with healthy belt and powerful mix voice; must move well with a strong connection to her physicality; mezzo/high belt (Ab3-Ab5)

Prologus - Introduces the audience to the comedy they are about to see. (Same actor who portrays Pseudolus in Act 1 and Senex in Act 2). Male/30-50/A2-A4.
Senex - An old man and father to Hero and husband to Domina. Male/45-70/B2-G4.
Domina - Senex's wife. A shrewish woman who dominates to the point of answering herself the questions she asks of others. Loves her husband deep down, but is outwardly controlling, demanding, and manipulative. Female/40-50/B3-F5.
Hero - The young son of Senex and Domina. He falls in love with Philia and agrees to give Pseudolus his freedom if he can help Hero woo her. Practical, privileged, romantic. Male/20-30/B2-G4.
Hysterium - The chief slave in the House of Senex. Believes he is in control, but is actually Pseudolus' puppet to carry out his schemes. Anxious, conservative, loyal. He desperately wants everything to be in order. Male/40-55/D4-G5. Must have impeccable comic timing and understand the style of vaudeville.
Pseudolus - A Roman slave, owned by Hero, who seeks to win his freedom by helping his young master win the heart of Philia. Quick-witted, scheming, childlike spirit. Male/30-50/A2-A4. Must have impeccable comic timing and understand the style of vaudeville.
Erronius - An old man, searching for his lost children. Male/45-70/B2-G4.
Miles Gloriosus - The archetype of the braggart soldier. A captain in the Roman army to whom Marcus Lycus has promised Philia. Commanding, boastful, manly and strong. Male/25-35/B3-F5.
Lycus - The owner of the house of Courtesans. Always out to make a profit, but also wants to provide good on what his business offers. Male/40-50/A3-F5. Must have impeccable comic timing and understand the style of vaudeville.
Philia - A virgin in the House of Lycus whom we also find out is Erronius' daughter. She is promised to Miles and vows to give him bodily what he has paid for, but loves Hero and promises he will always have her heart. Young, pretty, devoted. An archetypal ingénue. Female/18-21/B3-G5.
Ensemble – Various - Courtesans, Proteans, Soldiers – 3 Male, 6 Female
