CONTRACT
NEAT 18-19 salary pending. Current 17-18 min: $425/week
SEEKING
Equity actors and actor/singers for various roles and ensemble in the upcoming 18-19 season. Local Boston area actors and actors of color are strongly encouraged to audition. The Lyric Stage Company of Boston shall conduct all auditions/interviews in a manner that continues to promote fair consideration to ethnic minorities, women, seniors and performers with disabilities.
This audition is required by our agreement with Actors’ Equity Association and are for AEA Members only. NO non-AEA will be seen at this audition.
For pre-cast roles, auditioning performers will be considered as possible (emergency) replacements, should any become necessary. No understudies are being cast.
PREPARATION
Audition slots are FIVE (5) minutes long. Each actor has TWO (2) minutes to perform. Please prepare appropriate material of your choosing, which may be from one or more of the season’s shows. Scripts and a reader will be provided at both auditions. If electing a side, please be prepared to state your starting & stopping places. You may audition for one or more roles in the season. There are no auditions sides. If singing, please bring sheet music. Accompanist provided all day.

MOLINA: (Male identified, 30’s-40’s). Homosexual window-dresser of Latin American descent with no political convictions whatsoever, who is tortured with moments of hallucination. In want of a lifelong partner. He is fascinated by old female movie stars. Tenor.
VALENTIN: (Male identified, 30’s). A Marxist revolutionary, Hispanic male, imprisoned for his political stances, and undergoing torture. Baritone with high range.
SPIDERWOMAN/AURORA: (Female identified, 30’s-50’s, open ethnicity) A woman who is created in Molina’s invented world. “Vampy diva”, stunning, dazzling, and comforting in all her roles except for that of Spider Woman who is treacherous and frightening to Molina, as she kills with her kiss. Low mezzo / belter
WARDEN: (Male identified, 40+) A weathered and devious man of Latin American descent, who is both charming and cruel, and hates everything both of the men (Valentin & Molina) stand for and will do anything to break them. Baritone.
MOLINA’S MOTHER: (Female identified, 50+) A woman of Latin American descent who is the most caring, accepting and maternal figure in this story, she loves her son and would do anything to see him happy. Mezzo
MARTA: (Female identified, 20’s-30’s) A young woman of Latin American descent who is Valentin's girlfriend from home. Comes to comfort him in his mind. Mezzo
ESTEBAN: (Male identified, 20’s-40’s) The Warden’s lackey. Takes great pleasure in torturing inmates.
MARCOS: (Male identified, 20’s-40’s) The Warden’s lackey. Takes great pleasure in torturing inmates.

A hard worker and a strong leader, trying to find a balance between newfound power dynamic and friendships. She is exploring her sexual identity; role does require a buzz cut, will wear a wig for majority of play; must be willing to shave head. Soccer experience a plus.
