TWELFTH NIGHT
A Co-Production with Actors’ Shakespeare Project
By William Shakespeare
Director, Paula Plum
First Rehearsal: March 5, 2019
Opening: March 29, 2019
Closing: April 28, 2019

Please note the roles of OLIVIA, MARIA, SIR TOBY BELCH, and MALVOLIO have already been cast.
Seeking:

VIOLA: female identified, ages 22-30, A young woman of aristocratic birth, and the play’s protagonist. Washed up on the shore of Illyria when her ship is wrecked in a storm, Viola disguises herself as a young man, renames herself Cesario, and becomes a page to Duke Orsino, who she falls in love with. Her poignant plight is the central conflict in the play. Viola is twins with Sebastian. Comedic abilities are a must for this character.

SEBASTIAN: male identified, ages 22-30, A young man of aristocratic birth, Viola's twin, who thinks she has drowned in the shipwreck.

ORSINO: male identified 35+, A powerful nobleman in the country of Illyria. Orsino is lovesick for the beautiful Lady Olivia, but becomes more and more fond of his handsome new page boy, Cesario.

SIR ANDREW AGUECHEEK: gender fluid 30+, a wacky, idiotic knight, friend to Sir Toby Belch, and in love with Sir Toby's niece, The Countess Olivia, with whom he hasn't a chance. A highly comic role.

ANTONIO: gender fluid 25+, rescues Sebastian after his shipwreck, Antonio has become very fond of Sebastian, caring for him, accompanying him to Illyria, and furnishing him with money because of a strong, undetermined, love that they have for Sebastian.

FESTE: gender fluid, 24+, The clown, or fool, of Olivia’s household, Feste moves between Olivia’s and Orsino’s homes. Feste earns their living by making pointed jokes, singing old songs, being generally witty, and offering good advice cloaked under a layer of foolishness. In spite of being a professional fool, Feste often seems the wisest character in the play. This character sings throughout the play and the ability to play guitar or ukulele would be helpful.
