LOA $515/week


SEEKING

Equity actors for various roles. Especially seeking theater artists who would like to join a strong existing ensemble company, with a deep commitment to mentorship. This is the 23nd season of Free Shakespeare in the Park.


PREPARATION

Prepare 2 contrasting Shakespeare monologues in verse - no more than 24 lines of verse (please do not bring prose); if you have an instrument or would like to sing 30 seconds (a cappella), you may prepare that as well. Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together.

Auditions will be run in the following manner:

Actors will be scheduled for a one hour time slot. Within that hour you'll give at least one of your monologue’s and have a chance to play a bit. You will be auditioning in a group as the actor/audience relationship and direct address will be important to this production. Actors will not be asked to stay for more than 1 hour.

Seeking:

Ferdinand: The young King of Navarre, idealistic, impulsive, later to fall in love with the Princess of France.

Berowne: Friend to the king; known for his biting wit and intellectual prowess; later in love with Rosaline.

Longaville: Companion to the King; later in love with Maria

Dumane: Companion to the King, later in love with Katherine

Moth: Don Armado's young, witty page - should be able to sing and/or play instrument

Costard: A rustic caught violoating the King's proclamation, low clown - should sing and/or play instrument

Dull: A simple minded country constable - should be able to sing and/or play instrument

Holofernes: An aging schoolmaster with an extravagant use of language - should be able to sing and/or play instrument

Nathaniel: A country priest; companion to Holofernes - should be able to sing and/or play instrument

Princess of France: An upright, intelligent, heir to the throne of France

Rosaline: a witty dark complexioned woman who spars with Berowne

Maria: a companion to Princess

Katherine: a companion to Princess

Boyet: Advisor to Princess and ambassador, witty

Macade: a messenger from France
