BREAKDOWN
Misty Riggs is a nobody. No, really, she is— that’s an undisputed fact. But just as she’s starting sophomore year, she gets a vague notion that she should try to stand out somehow before it’s too late. But Misty’s maneuver only results in making her more of an outsider, and after one blow too many, she makes one final, desperate bid for glory—the terrible culmination of her burning desire to be recognized for something, anything, no matter how she achieves it.
Winner of the 10th Annual Southwest Playwriting Competition; World Premiere production.
Rehearsals
Begin Monday, December 26, 2017. Rehearsal schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00-11:00 PM and Saturday 1:00-9:30 PM (with 1 1/2 hour dinner break). Sunday is designated day off. May consider daytime rehearsals depending on cast availability.
Performances
Are Thursday, January 18 through Sunday, February 11, 2018 with possible extension through February 11 at Stage West, 821 W Vickery.
[Note: performances will be Thursday nights at 7:30, Friday and Saturday nights at 8:00 and Sunday matinees at 3:00]
All roles open to any ethnicitiy.
Misty Riggs - Female. To play 15. Awkward, plain, unfiltered, naive but thinks she’s the opposite. Eager to please up to a point. A bit beaten down. Believes there’s a better life out there for her, if she could only find it. Emotionally immature for her years.
Alixandra Benson - Female. To play 15. Confident and at times commanding, but also guarded. Quick witted, cutting and sly. Likes to control situations. Emotionally mature for her years..
Jacey Collier - Male. To play 17-year-old non-trans hetero male who identifies quite comfortably as gender-fluid. Quiet but self-possessed, intelligent, always gauging the situation. Most everyone else is more focused on his identity than he is.
Colleen Benson - Female. Mid/Late 30s-40s. Attractive, warm, open, fairly direct, with a loneliness beneath; tries very hard to give whatever it is that anyone might need from her.
