BREAKDOWN

Leo Clark: Early 40s - an itinerant Shakespearean actor seeking fame, fortune, and adventure. Masquerades as Maxine: chic and flamboyant

Jack Gable: Mid 20s - 30s - Leo’s acting partner and side-kick. Still a bit of an innocent. He masquerades as Stephanie: shy and demure.

NOTE: Though Jack and Leo are “Shakespearean actors” they also function in real life as though they were members of a vaudeville team.

Duncan Wooley: Late 30s/early 40s - Local minister in York, Pa. A good man at heart, but rather fussy, set in his ways, a bit scatterbrained, and lives in his own world.

Doctor Myers: Mid 40s/early 50s - A crusty, likeable curmudgeon. A country doctor who takes no guff from anybody. Chief Moose of local Moose organization

Butch (doubles as Frank): Early 20s, A little slow on the uptake, but earnest and sincere, with a good heart. Played football for local York, Pa high school team.

Meg Snider: Early 30s - Local girl from York, Pa. Vivacious with enormous warmth and a great sense of humor. She has the fresh, unstudied beauty that most women would kill for. Country girl but yearns for a more sophisticated life.

Audrey: 20s - Native of York, Pa. Extremely sweet, naive, and good-natured. She’s a knock-out.

Florence: 60s - Very old, extremely crusty, and her eyesight is terrible.
