ESCAPE TO MARGARITAVILLE
TULLY – [Male, late 20s-30s] ROLE CAST
RACHEL – [Female, late 20s – 30s] Intense, super smart, and a loyal friend. Has a constant eye on the future. Fully committed to her job and helping the world. Willing to put in as many hours of hard work as it takes and expects everyone else to do the same. Suspicious of fools and operators. Rachel is not easily distracted from her life plan. Usually manages to suppress the part of her that enjoys a good time.
BRICK – [Male, 30s] Oafish with a big heart and a good friend to Tully. The Lenny to Tully’s George. Not the brightest bulb, but sensitive and thoughtful. Willing to put himself out there emotionally, able to admit when he’s scared, and appreciates his life as an island bartender.
TAMMY – [Female, 30s] Cheerful, and always ready for a good time. Tammy is a loyal friend to Rachel. Sees the best in people and has a zest for life that is often squelched by her fiancé, Chad, who’s obsessed with getting her to diet before their wedding. Her low self-esteem manifests itself as denial of her own life.
MARLEY – [Female, 40s, of African Descent] ROLE CAST
J.D. – [Male, 60s] ROLE CAST
DISHWASHER – [Male, 40s, of African Descent] ROLE CAST
CHADD/ENSEMBLE – [Male, 30s] An insensitive, shallow bully. Yet sharply comedic. He’s preoccupied with hockey and he’s more interested trying to change his fiancée’s physical appearance than he is in being in a meaningful relationship with her.
ENSEMBLE – [Female/Male, 20s-40s] To play tourists, island locals, wedding guests, and other various ensemble characters. Must be strong dancers and excellent singers.

ANGIE – [Female, mid 40s] She teaches modern poetry/literature at a small college in Rhode Island; she’s on sabbatical this semester

HARRISON – [Male, mid-late 40s] He teaches literature at a small college in Rhode Island

TODD– [Male, early 30s] A man who will do or say anything to finish the deal, to get what he wants. Venom in his blood, but a deceiving warmth in his eyes. You can’t decide if you want to kill him or kiss him.
SHEILA– [Female, early 30s] Her calling in life is to kill. She excels at it. She enjoys it. But recently, she’s started to question everything. She wants to have a family, but can she bring a life into this world while she’s still taking lives out of it?
ABI – [Female, late 20s, Sheila’s Sister] A millennial with a great sense of humor and fatalist view of the world. She excels with computers and runs into trouble with people. She has the bad habit of blowing things out of proportion.
GLORIA – [Female, mid or late 50s, Sheila and Abi’s mother] The rock of the family and a cold-blooded killer. She loves her daughters fiercely. She blames herself for everything. Except for when she blames her dead husband. She can twist any nice thing into something negative.
AMI – [Female, 17]She comes across as an innocent, ambitious high school student. She should seem completely harmless, until she isn’t. She’s still trying to find her place in the world, but right now, she’s willing to do anything to find it.

DIVA DONNA - [Female, 50-59, African American] Donna Summer in her 50s at the pinnacle of her career. She is warm and wise. She has lived a life and is our emcee for the evening. Also plays Mary Gaines, Donna’s Mother.
DISCO DONNA – [Female, 17-29, African American] Donna Summer in her late teens and 20s, riding the wave of her skyrocketing career from Boston to Germany, to the discotheques of Los Angeles and Manhattan. She is charismatic and strong as she navigates this world for the first time.
DUCKLING DONNA – [Female, 12-17, African American] Donna Summer as a pre-teen, trying to find her voice amid a large Boston family. She has gumption, and yet is also fragile. Also plays Mimi, Donna’s oldest daughter.
BRUCE SUDANO - [Male, late 30s- early 40s, Italian American] Bass player for Brooklyn Dreams and Donna’s eventual husband. Steadfast, supportive, bright and witty
ANDREW GAINES – [Male, 40s, African American] Donna’s father. Ex-military. Has a stern exterior but loves his children more than anything. Also is expected to play REPORTER #2, A JOHN.
NEIL – [Male, late 30s, Caucasian] The head of Casablanca Records and Donna’s mentor. Works hard and parties harder. Also plays GUNTHER: Donna’s German boyfriend. Handsome and charming, but with a darker edge. Also plays POLICE OFFICER 1.
PASTOR – [Female, African American] A pastor in Donna’s childhood church in Boston, Grant AME. NORM BROKAW: Donna’s William Morris Agent. Also is expected to play the DOCTOR.
MARY ELLEN – [Female, African American] Donna’s younger sister. Supportive. Also plays BROOKLYN: Donna’s middle sister. Spunky and outspoken. Also is expected to play a CHOIR MEMBER.
DARA - [Female, African American] Donna’s youngest sister. Sometimes at odds with Donna as only little sisters can be. Preteens. AMANDA: Donna’s youngest daughter. Imaginative. Adores her mother. Also is expected to play a choir member.
JOYCE – [Female, mid-30s-early 40s, Caucasian] Neil Bogart’s business-savvy wife. One of Donna’s few friends in the industry. PETER: A German admirer. Also is expected to play CHURCHGOER, MUSICIAN, SWAT TEAM MEMBER, A JOHN.
PETE BELLOTTE – [Female, Caucasian] Giorgio Moroder’s British colleague. Dry. DON ENGEL: Donna’s attorney. No nonsense. DR. MEYER: A German admirer. Also is expected to play POLICE OFFICER 2, PIMP.
MAID – [Female] A Maid at the Navarro Hotel. Kind. Comes to Donna’s aid in a moment of need. 20s. MICHAEL: A classmate of Donna’s. Doesn’t always operate on the right side of the law. 20s. RONNIE: A German admirer. Also is expected to play LINDA.
BOB – [Female] A businessman fond of illegal substances. HELMUTH: Donna’s first husband and Mimi’s father. German. Also is expected to play CHURCHGOER, NURSE, MUSICIAN.
ADULT MARY ELLEN – [Female, African American] Much like her younger counterpart, she supports Donna when her sister needs her most. Also is expected to play PUNK 2, RICKY, PROSTITUTE. A SWAT TEAM MEMBER.
ADULT DARA – [Female, African American] Compassionate. Helps Donna during one of her darkest times. Also is expected to play REPORTER #3, JEANETTE, PROSTITUTE. PUNK 1.
GIORGIO MORODER – [Female, Caucasian] Italian songwriter and producer. Donna’s frequent collaborator and voice of reason. A true friend. DAVID GEFFEN: The legendary head of Geffen Records. Also is expected to play OLD WOMAN.
BRIAN – [Male, 30s-40s, Caucasian] Donna’s publicist and head of her fan club. Anxious, but loyal. Smart. Attempts to steer Donna through the turbulent waters of fame.
AMI – [Female, 20s-30s, African-American] Donna’s sister. Also plays BREAKDANCER, LAWYER.
