In reference to the descriptions below – these are descriptions of the characters as identified in the script and in collaboration with the creative team. They are not meant to be exhaustive of who should play these roles and we seek to cast expansively and intentionally. We acknowledge the history of systemic exclusionary practices and are working to dismantle barriers to theatre-making and auditioning for performers of all races, ethnicities, national origins, gender expressions, body types, and abilities. We also recognize that most characters are written on the binary (use he/him or she/her pronouns) and we invite gender non-conforming, genderqueer, transgender, and non-binary actors to submit for the roles they most identify with.
As an ADA compliant organization, we welcome performers of all abilities. We are prepared to engage interpreters, utilize captioning, and provide any reasonable accommodations and resources needed in order to cast performers with disabilities.
SEEKING:
No roles will be understudied.
JOSEFINA (ho-se-FEE-na) (She/Her/Hers, Dominican or Latine Identifying, early 30s) - big sister, independent, funny, compassionate. An up and coming stand-up comic. Josefina takes nothing seriously. Also plays PASTELITO PETER, HOTDOG GLORIA, and CHA CHA – puppet characters that Josefina manipulates and voices.
BETSAIDA (bet-SAY-da) (She/Her/Hers, Dominican or Latine Identifying, mid to late 20s) - younger sister, loyal, giving, faithful. An accountant. Betsaida takes everything seriously. Also plays CAT DOCTOR and MISHU – puppet characters that Betsaida manipulates and voices. Comfortable singing.
