About the play: In George Brant's backstage comedy, a group of mostly amateur actresses keep a Rhode Island playhouse alive during World War II, by taking on all the roles once played by the men now fighting overseas.
Maggie Dalton - Female, white, early 30s - mid 40s, the talented if untested director of the play. Celeste Fielding - Female, white, 50s, the diva. Plays Henry.
Ellsworth Snow - Male, white, 60s - 70, the conservative board president of the theatre. Winifred Snow - Female, white, 50s - 70, untalented but enthusiastic socialite; plays Falstaff.
Stuart Lasker - Male, white, mid 20s - early 50s, gay, the quip-ready stage manager; plays Mistress Quickly.
Ida Green - Female, Black, 30 - mid 40s, the imaginative costume designer who ends up playing Hotspur.
June Bennett - Female, white, late teens - early 20s, the ingenue; plays the Kates.
Grace Richards - Female, white, early 20s - early 30s, a raw talent, plays Henry IV and V.
