SEEKING:

All roles will be understudied.

[LARRY LAMB] He/Him, 40’s, Caucasian. Very smart, driven, not a man who came from privilege, he is a climber. Recruits a team of underdog reporters and transforms the print journalism industry beyond recognition. Thinks quickly on his feet, Larry has morals but is quick to abandon them when the right opportunity comes along. Speaks with a Yorkshire accent.

[RUPERT MURDOCH] He/Him, 40’s, Caucasian. A man with big ideas who is not used to taking no for an answer. Demanding, brash, shrewd, clever, an opportunist. Intensely charming, very funny. The mastermind. Speaks with an Australian accent.

[HUGH CUDLIPP / AS CAST] He/Him, 50’s-60’s, any ethnicity. Welsh, the old guard Chairman of The Mirror. A commanding presence, a picture of the professionalism of old-school journalism. He doesn’t take kindly to threats.

[STEPHANIE RAHN / AS CAST] She/Her, 20’s, Indian/British. Beautiful, an aspiring model and actor. A smart young woman, but easily manipulated. Eager to work and eager to please, Stephanie becomes an unwitting pawn in The Sun’s rise. *This role contains possible nudity.

[BERNARD SHRIMSLEY / AS CAST] He/Him, 40’s-60’s, any ethnicity. Editor at The Sun, not the sharpest tack in the room. A bit of a stuffed shirt in a room full of class clowns, but so happy when he begins to get it.

[BRIAN MCCONNELL / AS CAST] He/Him, 40’s, any ethnicity. Working class, former crime editor at The Mirror and new editor of The Sun. Lamb’s right hand man and the only one he’ll half-listen to because he was the first to buy into Lamb’s vision and passion.

[BEVERLY GOODWAY / AS CAST] He/Him, 20’s, Person Of Color. BEVERLY: Staff photographer at The Sun. A good kid who finds himself out of his depth.

[FRANK NICKLIN / AS CAST] He/Him, 40’s-60’s, any ethnicity. Foul -mouthed, fun-loving sports editor at The Sun.

[RAY MILLS / AS CAST] He/Him, 30’s-40’s, any ethnicity. Union man at The Sun and unafraid to strong arm on behalf of the union. He’s got a great deal of integrity and buys into Lamb’s vision that The Sun will really speak for the average citizen.

[SIR ALICK MCKAY / AS CAST] He/Him, 50’s-60’s, any ethnicity. Deputy Chairman of The Sun, an old-school presence. A loving husband, and very much second-banana to Murdoch.

[JOYCE HOPKIRK / AS CAST] She/Her, 40’s-50’s, any ethnicity. A strong female editor in a man’s world, she has to work twice as hard to be a respected voice in the room. A frank talker who plays an instrumental role in establishing The Sun’s infamous Page Three.

[DIANA / AS CAST] She/Her, 20’s-30’s, any ethnicity. Airy horoscope writer, a believer in astrology and lover of gossip who also recognizes the power of manipulating horoscopes for the “right” reason.
