SEEKING:

MELINDA: Female, white, twelve. Open to performers of all ages.

HOWARD: Male, white, thirteen. Open to performers of all ages.

RACHEL BROWN: Female, white, early 20s. A schoolteacher in Hillsboro and the daughter of REVEREND JEREMIAH BROWN. Kind and empathetic.

BERTRAM CATES: Male, BIPOC, early 20s. A schoolteacher in Hillsboro. Quiet, shy, well-mannered. He’s an outsider.

REV. JEREMIAH BROWN: Male, white, 40s - 60. The town’s reverend and RACHEL’s father. Charismatic and bombastic – in a megachurch reverend kind of way.

ELIJAH/HARRY ESTERBROOK: Male, white, 40s – 60s. A religious zealot from the hills. Wild. Doubles as ESTERBROOK – a sophisticated radio man.

E.K. HORNBECK: Female, Asian, 30s. A reporter for the Baltimore Herald. A sophisticated city dweller.

MATTHEW HARRISON BRADY: Male, white, late 40s - 60s. A giant of a man. When Brady speaks, there can be no doubt of his personal magnetism.

MRS. BRADY: Female, white, 40s - 60. BRADY’S wife. Fashionable. A proper “Second Lady” to the nation’s “Second Man”. Always in her husband’s shadow, and while this does not bother her, she has a hugely buttoned up emotional well.

TOM DAVENPORT: Male, white, 20s - 30s. A crisp business-like man. Circuit district attorney.

HENRY DRUMMOND: Male, Black, 40s – 60s. A defense lawyer – and the best of the best. Smart and quick witted.

MEEKER/PHOTOGRAPHER: Male, white, 40s – 50s. The Bailiff. Has a moral compass most others don’t.

JUDGE/ENSEMBLE: Male, white, 40s - 60s. A man with great authority.

STOREKEEPER/ENSEMBLE: Open gender, open ethnicity, open age. A passive resistance to the Brady frenzy. Doesn’t want to get involved. Most likely not from Hillsboro.

MRS. KREBS/ENSEMBLE: Female, white, 40s - 50s. A bossy busybody.

MAYOR/ENSEMBLE: Male, white, 50s - 60s,. A little slick. Not unintelligent. Has fully bought in to the BRADY propaganda, but does have the capacity for change.

SILLERS/ENSEMBLE: Male, open ethnicity, 30s - 50s. Works at the feed store. A religious man, but too busy at the feed store to be fully involved.

DUNLAP/ENSEMBLE: Male, white, 30s - 50s, Farmer and cabinetmaker. Wholly believes in the bible and in MATTHEW HARRISON BRADY.

MR. BANNISTER/ENSEMBLE: Male, white, 30s-50s. A townsperson eager to involve himself in the sensation of the trial.

SEEKING:

KENNETH- Male, Black, late 30s. An average- yet sensitive- guy with an incredibly deep emotional well and a rich imagination. Almost something a bit mysterious about the solitude of his life. Daily routines keep him going – though this comes from years of engrained coping mechanisms. Deeply craves and longs for real connection with not a clue how to achieve it – or recognize when it might be right in front of him.

BERT- Male, Black, late 30s-40s. KENNETH’s best, and only, friend. A family man with a good heart and a calming demeanor. KENNETH’s biggest cheerleader and biggest comfort.

CORRINA/WALLY’S WAITER/BANK CUSTOMERS- Female, Black, late 30s-40s. CORRINA - Waitress at WALLY’S. An open-hearted kind spirit. A serial apologizer – though she’s starting to recognize that in herself. Doubles as a rotating ensemble of waiters and bank customers with distinct personalities with range and comedic instincts.

CLAY/SAM/LE POUSSELET BARTENDER - Male, Open ethnicity, 50s-70s. SAM - KENNETH’S boss at the bookstore. Heavy smoker with a gruff exterior and a tender heart. Swears like a sailor. Doubles as CLAY - Manager at Primary Trust bank. Loves to reminisce about the glory days of being the local college’s quarterback. Also Doubles as LE POUSSELET BARTENDER - posh bartender at a bougie establishment.
