DELIO
Paparazzi, Reporter
Gender: Male
Age: 25-30
Despite the usually negativity stereotype that is conjured up with the term paparazzi, Delio has a somewhat sympathetic nature. He knows all of Malfi’s secrets and keeps the worst of them tucked away to for later use. He’s our narrator and guide to the audience.
He’s a sharp witted schmoozer.
FERDINAND
Brother to Duchess
Gender: Male
Age: 25-32
Ferdinand has an obsessive/compulsive personality. Whether it is his life lived in privilege or drug abuse, it has turned him into a lunatic. Focused mainly around his sister, his obsession causes him to have repeated thoughts, feelings and ideas. His reaction is excessively violent. His behavior insinuates an incestuous need for his sister.
BOSOLA
Mercenary, Stable boy
Gender: Male
Age: 35
Bosola is a convict released from prison to due the dark bidding of the Cardinal. His past history was as a “peacekeeping” soldier which he mocks due to the violence that was involved. He then became a for-hire hit-man which after backing down from a job was arrested and thrown in prison.
He is very physically fit; handsome and strong
ANTONIO
Manservant, Mercenary, Husband to Duchess
Gender: Male
Age: 25-35
Antonio is from a poor stock of people and is uneducated. He became a peacekeeping soldier and then ultimately was hired as the Duchess’ protector during the mourning period for her husband the Duke. Several years later, post
mourning, the Duchess seduces him into being her husband in secrecy. Antonio is conflicted between his duty and his love for her, and rightfully so, fears for his life and hers.
He is physically fit; rough hewn and strong.
DUCHESS
Gender: Female
Age: 18-25
Young and beautiful, the Duchess could be any present day socialite that we fawn over. Her privileged up bring shows; she’s spoiled. She was married at 13 to a 49 year-old Duke who died of, what was supposed to be, a boating accident. She’s a pawn for her brothers’ uses; playing complacent in their presence all the while tempting fate by carrying-on a life in secrecy.
She is petite, in shape, model-esque.
CARIOLA
Maidservant
Gender: Female
Age: 25-35
Cariola has been maidservant to the Duchess for 12 years. While she is only slightly older in age, she is a sharp contrast to the sheltered upbringing of the Duchess. Edgy and more modern in life, she’s a Universal Life Church Minister and officiates the secret marriage. She’s like a street wise feral cat; clever and fearless.
