PREPARATION
Please prepare either two contrasting monologues or sides from the play for which you would like to be considered. When reaching out for an appointment, please indicate the show and character for which you would like to read. A reader will be provided. Total audition time not to exceed five minutes. Please bring a stapled headshot and resume.

INGE
Female, White, 40s
Famed photographer, beautiful, well-traveled. A perfectionist whose life revolves around her art. Her life as Arthur Miller’s wife is marked with discontent and she exhausts herself trying to make the marriage work. Her life becomes racked with guilt after sending her son with special needs, Daniel, to a home.
ARTHUR
Male, White, 50s
Famed playwright and the voice of the American people. His work is lauded by critics, particularly in his early career, but he struggles with his craft in his later years. His marriage to Inge is shadowed by his previous relationship with Marilyn Monroe. Arthur desperately struggles between balancing the intricacies of his personal life with his professional career, sometimes at the expense of his closest relationships.
ROBERT
Male
A theatre producer and close friend of Inge and Arthur Miller. Though he’s excited to revel in Arthur’s successes, he falters when he’s torn between sympathizing with Inge and supporting Arthur in their turmoil about their son.
DR. WISE
Female
Inge’s obstetrician and confidant. She is grounded and sympathetic. As the play progresses, she becomes more assertive and urges the couple to take back their son.
Also plays BBC INTERVIEWER: An interviewer whose pointed questions dig at what Arthur is most sensitive about: his work’s critical and financial failure.
DANIEL
Male, teens.
Born with Down Syndrome. He is intelligent and thriving, despite the poor conditions of the home in which his parents, Inge and Arthur, put him.
