BREAKDOWN

Characters:

J. PIERREPONT FINCH
(Male age 22-35; any ethnicity)
Ambitious window cleaner looking to climb the corporate ladder quickly. A charismatic and charming man who can talk himself out of almost any situation. Even when he behaves badly, you still want him to win. Has the ability to relate instantly with an audience.

J.B. BIGGLEY
(Male age 45-60; any ethnicity)
President of the World Wide Wicket Company. A powerful man who doesn’t mind people knowing his position. Like a king, most employees become nervous in his presence. His Achilles heel is one beautiful woman he desires.

BUD FRUMP
(Male 22-40; any ethnicity) Bratty nephew of President BIGGLEY. Bud is confident he will rise to power thanks to nepotism. A role for a comedic actor who can make someone so unlikable a joy to watch.

ROSEMARY PILKINGTON
(Female age 20-35; any ethnicity)
Company secretary. She is surrounded by driven men and women who are searching for power and she finds herself dreaming of a family home with her true love, PIERREPONT FINCH. As driven as FINCH is to climb at work, Rosemary is driven to make her dream of a family come true as well. She is extremely clever and plays a long game to win.

HEDY LA RUE
(Female 30-45; any ethnicity)
HEDY is extremely confident in her physical appearance. She is having an affair with president BIGGLEY and enjoying all that comes with his influence and affection. She won’t win many quiz shows, but she seems to understand how to succeed in the corporate world in her own way.

SMITTY
(Female 25-45; any ethnicity)
Close friend to Rosemary who works as a secretary at World Wide Wickets. She is a strong woman with a great sense of sarcasm and wit. She enjoys work, but loves getting involved in the office gossip.

MISS JONES
(Female 30-60)
Secretary to the boss, MR. BIGGLEY. African American woman who sees, knows everything. She keeps everyone in the company in line. She is the bosses gate keeper. Later in the show she loses herself in a musical break through. Must have a bold and amazing belt voice.

BERT BRATT
(Male 30-50; any ethnicity)
Personnel manager. Harried executive that works hard and gets things done. Might be the only person who actually gets work done. He is integral to the hiring and firing of all executives which makes him important.

MR. TWIMBLE
(Male 40-70; any ethnicity)
The head of the mail room. He has genuinely discovered a philosophy that allows him to be happy at work, by never making waves. He is extremely likable and well mannered. He spends a happy existence living under the radar.

WALLY WOMPER
(Male 40-70; any ethnicity)
The big man. The chairman of the board. He is very gruff and powerful. He can remain silent and still have all of the authority. Proves to be a fair and kind man.

MALE AND FEMALE ENSEMBLE
A group of clever male and female executives make up the ensemble for the story. All must be excellent singers and dancers. Open to all types. A great sense of comedic timing is needed. Ages 20-50.
