A CHRISTMAS CAROL: THE MUSICAL

Seeking:

Ebenezer Scrooge - Moves well. Vocal range A-flat 2-F4. A man who lost his father to creditors as a kid and has grown up heeding his father's advice to save his money. Until he realizes how terrible he's become, he is a grumpy, unsympathetic man and has no time for anyone or anything. Through his journey with the three ghosts, he transforms from miserly to merry.

Ghost of Christmas Past/Lamplighter - Moves gracefully. Vocal range E-flat 4-G-sharp 5. An ever cheerful, sprightly ghost who comes back with the history book of Scrooge's past to show him the events that led to his current state. Cheerfulness and kindness are this character’s dominant traits, and maybe a little zany.

Ghost of Christmas Present/Sandwichboard Man - Vocal range D-flat 3-F4. Is able to tap dance or fake it well. Moves well. A jovial, larger-than-life ghost who comes back to show Scrooge all the joy, love, and celebration he is missing out on while those around him celebrate Christmas. Very vaudeville.

Ghost of Christmas Yet to Be - Vocal range C4-F5. Belts and has a strong mix. Huge dance role - moves in a contemporary style. Strong and mostly silent as she shows Scrooge what will happen to him and those around him if he continues down the path he is currently treading. Creepy and eerie, yet captivating every time they are on stage.

Bob Cratchit - Vocal range G-sharp 2-E4. A father and husband who cares deeply for his family, particularly his youngest son, Tiny Tim. Kind and patient, he endures Scrooge's temper and abuse to provide for his family, especially his son, Tiny Tim.

Jacob Marley - Vocal range B2-A-flat 4. Scrooge's former business partner who, before his death, was exactly like Scrooge. Comes back as a ghost in chains to warn Scrooge of how his life decisions will bind him in the afterlife. Has good comedic timing with ridiculous one-liners.

THE WEDDING SINGER

Seeking:

ROBBIE HART - Rock Tenor, low B to high A to high C (optional strong falsetto) Age Range 18-30. Strong singer, the ability to play guitar is preferred but not an absolute requirement. Great comedic timing. Basic movement skills. A musician and lead singer for a trio that plays for weddings. Very charismatic, yet insecure with a “puppy dog” appeal.

SAMMY - Baritone, to high F, Age Range 20-30. Singer, the ability to play guitar is preferred but not an absolute requirement. Basic movement skills. Robbie’s friend and guitarist for the trio, not terribly bright but means well and is supportive. Sammy is a typical man’s man, rock star wannabe.

GEORGE - Baritone, to high F (strong falsetto), Age Range 20-30. Strong character singer who can rap and has good falsetto. Plays keyboard for the trio. Boy George type.

JULIA SULLIVAN - Soprano, low G to E, Age Range 18-25. Strong singer, with good movement ability. Sweet and innocent, she is a waitress who longs to be married and live the perfect married life.

HOLLY - Pop belt to middle E, Age Range 20-25. Has strong dance ability and a unique voice with a strong belt. Has strong comedic timing. Holly is Julia’s cousin, very uninhibited and forward. Based on Madonna of the 80’s.

GLEN GUGLIA - Baritone, to high G, Age Range 20-35. This role requires singing and basic movement. Julia’s fiancé, a calculating, money-loving Wall Street type. Probably a former frat bro. Slimy.

ROSIE - Mezzo Soprano that can rap, Age Range 40+. Has great comic timing and a singing voice that suits both classic musical theatre and rap. Basic movement skills. Robbie’s sweet and spicy, but totally loveable Grandmother. Actors of all ages encouraged to submit. Age make-up techniques may be used to give the appearance of 40+, if necessary.

LINDA - Rock belt, to middle D. Age Range 20-25. Strong belt voice and movement skills. Robbie’s trashy, oversexed girlfriend. Pat Benatar type.

CLUE

Seeking:

WADSWORTH: Male; A traditional British butler in every sense: uptight, formal and “by the book.” He is the driving force in the play.

YVETTE: Female; A sexy, French Maid, with her own secret aspirations. (Also THE REPORTER in the final scene).

MISS SCARLET: Female; A dry, sardonic D.C. Madam who is more interested in secrets than sex.

MRS. PEACOCK: Female; The church-going wife of a Senator. A bit batty, neurotic, and quick to hysteria.

MRS. WHITE: Female; A pale, morbid, and tragic woman. Mrs. White may or may not be the murderer of her five ex-husbands.

COLONEL MUSTARD: Male; A puffy, pompous, dense, blow-hard of a military man.

PROFESSOR PLUM: Male; An academic Casanova who woos women with his big … brain.

MR. GREEN Male; A timid, yet officious, rule follower. He’s a bit of a klutz and awfully anxious.
