Equity actors for roles in Fulton Theatre Company's 2023-24 Season (See breakdown).

We are committed to and seeking diverse casts of talented and committed performers of all ages. Roles are available to auditioners of any age and ethnicity.

PREPARATION

For the Musicals: Please prepare two short contrasting cuts of songs of your choice. Songs from our upcoming season are fine. An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music properly marked and in a binder. For the Plays: Please prepare a 1-2 minute monologue (or) 2 30-40 second contrasting monologues. Everyone, please bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

ROZ KEITH: Age: 35 to 45. The attentive office gossip queen and snitch. She has an unrequited love for Mr. Hart and will do anything she can to win his approval. Vocal range: Alto

JOE: Age: 25 o 30. Doralee's attractive husband. He is very supportive of her professional pursuits. Vocal range: Tenor

DWAYNE RHODES: Age: 25 to 30. Doralee's attractive husband. He is very supportive of her professional pursuits. Vocal range: Tenor

EMILE DE BECQUE: Age: 40-50. A wealthy, sophisticated and older French gentleman, de Becque has built an impressive plantation on the island. He claims to have killed a man in France, forcing him to flee the country. He volunteers to serve as a spy for the American troops when Nellie calls things off between them. Vocal range: Baritone

NGANA: Age: 8-10. Emile’s young French/Polynesian daughter. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano JEROME: Age: 10-12. Emile’s young French/Polynesian son. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano HENRI: Age: 25-45. A native of the island, he works as Emile’s house butler. (Spoken)

BLOODY MARY: Age: 35-50. A sassy Tonkinese woman who makes her living selling souvenirs to the American sailors, Bloody Mary tries desperately to find a rich husband for her daughter Liat who she thinks can give her a better life. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano

LIAT: Age: 18–25. Bloody Mary’s beautiful Polynesian daughter, Liat falls in love with Lt. Cable (Spoken)

LUTHER BILLIS: Age: 35-50. A loveable and crafty man who helps provide much-needed comic relief for his fellow sailors, Billis has little to no respect for authority and is always scheming, but he is a good friend to Nellie. He runs a laundry enterprise with a homemade washing machine. Vocal range: Baritone

“STEWPOT” GEORGE WATTS: Age: 35-50. A Sailor and Luther’s cohort, Watts run the laundry machine. Vocal range: Baritone

“PROFESSOR”: Age: 30-40. A Sailor and Luther’s cohort. Vocal range: Baritone

LT. JOSEPH CABLE (USMC): Age: 25-35. A handsome and intelligent officer, Cable is newly stationed on the island. Vocal range: Tenor

CAPT. GEORGE BRACKETT (US NAVY): Age: 40-60. The commanding officer and highest-ranking officer on the island, Brackett is slightly self-important, but he hides a heart of gold. (Spoken)

CMDR. WILLIAM HARBISON (US NAVY): Age: 35-50. Second-in-command on the island, Harbison is officious and hotheaded. He is Brackett’s right hand man. (Spoken)

RADIO OPERATOR BOB MCCAFFREY: Age: 25-35. A sailor, McCaffrey sends and receives messages from an undercover mission. (Spoken)

SEEKING:

WILLY WONKA/ CANDY MAN: Age: 35-45 The eccentric owner of the Wonka chocolate factory. Mr. Wonka is the most renowned candy maker in the world and an endless combination of opposing parts. He is older, but filled with a boundless energy. He is physically small, but his persona is larger than life. He is also both charming and insensitive. Willy Wonka is an enigmatic character; at once mysterious and mischievous but also charismatic. Strong dance/movement skills a plus. Able to be funny and serious and change between the two on a dime. Vocal range: Tenor, Baritone

CHARLIE BUCKET: Age: Early Teen. The protagonist of the play. Charlie is unassuming and respectful toward everyone in his life. He is undernourished but refuses to ever take an extra portion of food because it would deprive another member of his family. He must walk by Mr. Wonka’s factory every day on his way to school and smell the tantalizing smell of chocolate as his stomach grumbles. He is almost always cold because he does not have an adequate jacket. Even though he has every reason to complain, he never does. Charlie is exactly the kind of child that Mr. Wonka wants. Vocal range: Treble/ Boy Soprano

GRANDPA JOE: Age: Mature Adult. Charlie’s paternal grandfather. Grandpa Joe spends all his time in bed with the other three Bucket grandparents. He is extremely imaginative and fun loving. He realizes a return of his childish energy when Charlie finds the golden ticket. He thinks Mr. Wonka’s idea to send out golden tickets is a marketing stroke of genius, and he continues to think Mr. Wonka is brilliant while the other parents think he is mad. Grandpa Joe is kind and loving and also sensible. He is Charlie’s greatest friend and confidant. Vocal range: Baritone

AUGUSTUS GLOOP: Age: Earley Teen, Late Teen, Young Adult. Augustus is the overachieving eater who represents the evils of eating too much. Augustus is rude and insubordinate in his never-ending quest to fill his own face. His parents choose to indulge him rather than listen to his whining. He suffers for his greed in the factory. Vocal range: Baritone

VERUCA SALT: Age: Earley Teen, Late Teen, Young Adult. A spoiled brat. Strong singing voice. Veruca demands anything she wants and throws tantrums until her parents meet her demands. She is mean and completely self-involved, and her parents always acquiesce to her wishes. Veruca’s impetuousness causes her trouble at the factory. She demands to own one of Wonka’s trained squirrels, but when she marches in to claim it, it deems her a “bad nut” and sends her down the garbage chute. Mingled with garbage, she comes out changed at the end of the story. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano

VIOLET BEAUREGARDE: Age: Earley Teen, Late Teen, Young Adult. Gum chewer extraordinaire, Violet hails from Snellville, Georgia, so it's nice if she has a Southern American accent, but not necessary. Violet should stand in stark contrast to Veruca Salt. Veruca is a wealthy refined brat; Violet is more of a bluecollar, middle class brat. Strong singing voice. Vocal range: Soprano, Mezzo Soprano, Alto

MIKE TEAVEE: Age: Early Teen, Late Teen, Young Adult. Mike is not just a TV junky. He is also addicted to video games, the Internet and any other mindnumbing technological device. Mike is bratty, loud and obnoxious. He does not know the word no. Good singing voice. Vocal range: Tenor, Baritone, Bass

MRS. BUCKET: Age: Adult. Charlie’s mother. Mrs. Bucket worries constantly about her son. She unfailingly tries to give Charlie her portion of a meal, which he always refuses. She is extremely giving in her efforts to take care of the four invalided grandparents with whom she lives. Vocal range: Mezzo Soprano

GRANDMA JOSEPHINE: Age: Mature Adult. Charlie’s paternal grandmother. Grandma Josephine, like her fellow grandparents, spends all her time in bed. She loves Charlie and is quick to judge others. Vocal range: Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto

GRANDPA GEORGE: Age: Mature Adult. Charlie’s maternal grandfather. Grandpa George is pessimistic and terse. He does not seem as judgmental as the grandmothers and clearly loves Charlie. Vocal range: Tenor, Baritone, Bass

GRANDMA GEORGINA: Age: Mature Adult. Charlie’s maternal grandmother. She is the mirror image of Grandma Josephine. She too is very quick to judge others. Vocal range: Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto

MRS. GLOOP: Age: Adult. Augustus’s Mother. She is moronic and indulgent of her son’s overeating. Mrs. Gloop is proud of her son’s appetite and thinks it better that he eat than be a nuisance. Mrs. Gloop is a character who isn't afraid to take positive risks in her singing. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano

MR. SALT: Age: Adult. Mr. Salt is at his daughter’s beck and call. Whenever she screams and cries he gives in to her every demand. Vocal range: Tenor

MR. BEAUREGARDE: Age: Adult. Mr. Beauregarde is weak and ineffectual. He lets his daughter talk back to him and ignores her insults. Vocal range: Baritone

MRS. TEAVEE: Age: Adult. Mrs. Teavee is a hands-off parent. She allows the television to parent her son. Vocal range: Mezzo-Soprano

OOMPA-LOOMPAS: Fun-loving dwarves hailing from Loompaland. Mr. Wonka’s diminutive work force feasts on cacao beans and performs all of the work in the Wonka chocolate factory. They also enjoy dancing, beating drums, and singing songs about what happens to bad children.

ANNIE WILKES: This role is cast.

PAUL SHELDON: Age: 40-50. A famed romance novelist tired of the series that has brought him the most acclaim. Returning from a retreat to finish his most recent work, he is involved in a terrible car crash that leaves him with broken legs and unable to care for himself. He’s thoughtful, if not a touch arrogant, and extremely crafty. He quickly realizes how dangerous his situation is and must use anything and everything at his disposal to survive.

BUSTER: Age: Late 30s – Late 60s. The Sherriff of a nearby town searching for Paul. Very friendly with possible hopes of something more with Annie.

EQUUS

SEEKING:

ALAN STRANG: This role is cast

MARTIN DYSART: This role is cast

DORA STRANG: Age: Adult. Alan's mother. She is a devout Christian who read Alan passages from the Bible throughout his childhood. While she appears to be a caring and loving figure, she also does not believe she has done anything wrong in Alan's upbringing.

FRANK STRANG: Age: Adult. Alan's father, who is not religious, and criticizes his wife's spiritual views. He acknowledges that Alan has always been strange, and is uncomfortable in many of his interactions with the psychiatrist.

HESTHER SALOMAN: Age: Adult, Mature Adult. A court magistrate who is responsible for initially bringing Alan to Dysart for treatment. She appears to show compassion for Alan, and believes that his actions were those of a misunderstood boy who needs help.

JILL MASON: Age: Late Teen, Young Adult. An outgoing and free-spirited girl who works at the stables with Alan, and who eventually becomes romantically interested in him. He had been on a date with her the night of the crime.

NURSE: Age: Adult. The nurse who works for Dysart, who brings him news about Alan throughout his treatment.

HARRY DALTON: Age: Adult, Mature Adult. The owner of the stable at which Alan and Jill work, and where Alan blinded the horses. During Alan's treatment, Dysart meets with Dalton in an attempt to better understand the circumstances behind what happened.

NUGGET: Age: Young Adult. The particular horse in Dalton's stables to which Alan feels a strong connection. In Alan's mind, Nugget is the horse god Equus.

HORSEMAN: Age: Young Adult. The man riding his horse on the beach, who invites a young Alan to ride a horse for his first time.

TUESDAY’S WITH MORRIE

MITCH ALBOM: Age: 35-45. Morrie’s former student who has since become a journalist with a very busy life. After sixteen years of being out of touch, he sees Morrie on ABC’s Nightline and starts to visit him every Tuesday.

MORRIE SCHWARTZ: Age: 60-70. Morrie is Mitch’s former college professor who has been diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). He meets with Mitch in his home every Tuesday and teaches him about the meaning of life.
