SEEKING Equity actors/singers for various roles in the upcoming TYA Season. See breakdown


PREPARATION Prepare a brief song. Music from any of the shows is fine. Bring sheet music; accompanist provided. Bring picture and resume.

T'WAS THE NIGHT

Charlotte –An independent and inquisitive 10 year old girl.

Charles – Charlottes father. A loving man who believes in Christmas.

Snow Queen – The Queen of the North Pole who is convinced she is Glinda from The Wizard of Oz.

Nutcracker – from the classic story. A strong dancer who believes his real name is Randall.

Gremlin – a goblin looking Christmas gremlin. He presents himself as ”Lance” and plays the guitar. He is the side kick to the Mouse King.

Jack Frost – A “cool” guy based on the fictional “Jack Frost”..he thinks his name is Jeff. He juggles.

Abominable – The”Snowman”. Big, White and a “Bad” comedian. He thinks his name is Magonigable.

Mouse King- The one and only. The conniving villain . Smart, cunning, sarcastic. He knows exactly who he thinks he is.

Rudolph – The Red nose reindeer. Shy, timid and bullied. Thinks he has nothing to offer. He also thinks his name is William. The rest of the group tease him and call him “weird willie”.

Frosty – The Snow Man. Should be the “Showman”. Tap dancer who thinks his name is Artie.

Rabinowitz, Mohney, Miller, Young – Four Singing elves who love to Harmonize. They call them self “Lip Sync”. Two of them also serve as back-up dancers to Samaria, Queen of the Broadway stage.

Santa Claus – The man himself. Though he thinks he is a farmer named Dale from Pecatonica.

Samaria, “Queen of the Broadway Stage” – Santa’s wife. She is a frustrated Singer who has deluded herself into thinking she is this “Dolly-like” personality.

Alice – Young Inquisitive Girl with lots of imagination. She is polite, well raised, and interested in others.

Margaret – Alices older sister

White Rabbit – A nervous rabbit, who is always in a hurry

Caterpillar – A strict, no nonsense caterpillar

Cheshire Cat – A constantly grinning cat who teaches alice the rules of wonderland

Mad Hatter – A silly, slightly off-center member of the tea party

March Hare – Another member at the tea party

Dormouse – Another member of the tea party who is constantly falling asleep

TweedleDee – One of the cowardly twins (African American Female)

TweedleDum – One of the cowardly twins (African American Female)

Queen Of Hearts – A tyrant who rules over wonderland

Knave Of Hearts – Aide to the queen of hearts

Jabberwocky – A large, and very scary dragon

Sunflower – A large, and beautiful sunflower who helps alice to find her way home

JAMES AND THE GIANT PEACH

James - A lonely young boy who lacks confidence. Having lost both his parents in a freak accident, he feels he belongs nowhere in the world. However, when given the right encouragement he becomes resourceful and innovative. A good friend.

Ladahlord - A strange, magical storyteller. Often inserts himself into the story, in disguise, to help push the action forward.

Spiker - James' mean aunt. A thief and a scoundrel. Shrewd and opportunistic. Very tall and thin

Sponge - James' other mean aunt. Also a thief and a scoundrel, but not nearly as bright as her sister. Very corpulent, she often has her mind on food.

Earthworm - An earthworm who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. A bit of a scaredy-cat. He is neurotic and worried about everything, but is very friendly and brave when called upon. This actor also plays Bobby Cop and Bitzi Botana.

Centipede - An ornery centipede who becomes human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. Hates humans, in part because Spiker and Sponge fumigated his family. Prickly and rude, everyone thinks he is a pest. This actor also plays Buzz, the Hollywood agent.

Ladybug - A motherly ladybug who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. Respectable and classy, she has a warm, caring heart. Has her eye on Grasshopper. This actor also plays Matron Nurse and Reporter.

Grasshopper - A wizened grasshopper who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. An excellent musician. Has his eye on Ladybug. This actor also plays Man with Wallet and Garden Guild.
Madame Guild President

Spider - A normal spider who has become human-sized after eating a crocodile tongue. Her husband was killed and eaten by Spiker and Sponge. She is warm and friendly to James. This actor also plays Woman with Purse and Reporter 1.

Josh Baskin - The grown man that Josh turns into after making a wish. Initially aghast at being a teenager stuck in a much larger, and hairier body. He gradually becomes sucked into the adult life and gains bravado
Susan Lawrence - An executive at MacMillan and Josh's love interest. Beautiful and all business, but getting involved with Josh helps connect to her inner, happier child.

Mrs. Baskin - Josh's mother, concerned about what effects puberty is having on her son's personality. Motherly and protective to the point of almost smothering

Billy Kopecki - Josh's best friend, always looking out for him no matter what the situation. Energetic and a smooth talker.

Little Josh Baskin - A New Jersey boy on the brink of adolescence. Lacking confidence and self-esteem, he yearns to become older and escape the embarrassments of being a teenager.

Macmillan - A toy company owner trying to save his failing business. Distinguished, but with a good sense of humor.

Paul Seymour - A junior executive at MacMillan Toys who becomes Josh's rival in the office. Handsome, hard-charging, and entirely self-absorbed.

Ensemble - Kids; Parents; Carnival People (Bean Bag Toss Lady, Bearded Lady, Ticket Taker); Port Authority People (Panhandler, Arcade Attendant); Macmillan Company Workers (Miss Watson, Young Interns)
