Breakdown

At the heart of this gripping, futuristic parable beats an incendiary plot that pulses with menace and suspicion. In rural England, a blight of bad luck has befallen the countryside and a fox infestation may be to blame. The totalitarian government sends an agent, a “Foxfinder,” into the home of Judith and Samuel Covey and the invasive inspection whirls simple lives into a frenzy of finger-pointing and distrust. As the bizarre scrutiny intensifies, guilt, fear and distorted realities fuel a feverish hunt to explain the unknown.

CAST BREAKDOWN:

WILLIAM BLOOR: male (19) A foxfinder sent by the government to “investigate the area” for fox infestation. Young and extremely thin, he has been raised like a monk to study the fox and its power to confuse and manipulate man. Meticulous, disciplined and determined to believe what he has been taught since childhood, he is quietly haunted by doubt and able to coldly wield his power over his elders when necessary. Role requires English dialect.

SARAH BOX: female (30s). Loyal neighbor to Judith and Samuel Covey, a mother-of-two who knows how to conform to protect her family’s best interests and ensure their survival. Deceptive and courageous, she does not believe in the propaganda fed to her generation and dares to undermine authority by distributing pamphlets and confronting the Foxfinder. She dares to voice her dissent. Role requires English dialect.

All roles are acceptable for non-traditional casting unless otherwise specified. Artists Rep seeks and encourages participation by Actors of all races and ethnicities.
