Seeking
Male and Female actors who sing.

Preparation
An Accompanist will be provided. All actors should prepare 32 bars of appropriate material that best shows their range. Please be prepared with alternate, contrasting musical selections. We are seeking strong singers. All actors should bring a hard copy headshot and resume to the audition.

First Rehearsal 9/1; Tech Rehearsals Begin 9/22; First Preview 9/30; Press Opening 10/3; Champagne Opening 10/8; Closing 11/1. Performances run Wednesday throughSaturday evenings at 7:30pm; Saturday and Sundaymatinees at 2:30pm.

Breakdown

EVITA is the seven-time Tony Award-winning musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. A sung through pop opera, it tells of Eva Peron’s meteoric climb from the slums of Argentina to her role as beloved First Lady, to one of the most powerful women in the world. EVITA tells Eva's passionate and unforgettable true story through some of the theatre's most beautiful songs, including the unforgettable “Don't Cry for Me Argentina.” ZACH Theatre’s production will be Directed and Choreographed by Nick Demos with Musical Direction by Allen Robertson.

EVA PERON: (plays 18-33) Seeking a strong Latina actress/singer who moves well to portray the beautiful, ambitious title role who rises from poor obscurity to become the First Lady of Argentina; Legit/Pop Mezzo with clear, strong mix that can belt to a high G. Vocal stamina a must.

CHE: (18-35) Seeking a strong Latino actor/singer who moves well to play political activist and narrator of the show, a radical who isn’t reluctant to ask tough questions and demand answers; high, rock, pop or legit tenor voice that can sing a low A to high B, falsetto to high F.

JUAN PERON: (30-50) An officer in the Argentinean army who rises to become the Argentine President. He is a man who is dignified, charming, and authoritative. Seeking a strong leading man/singer; Legit bass/baritone to high F.

MISTRESS: (15-21) Seeking a young actress/singer who moves well to play Juan Peron’s beautiful, vulnerable teenaged Mistress. This role will also appear in the Ensemble. Light Pop soprano low A to a high E.

MAGALDI: (30 – 40) Seeking a comedic character actor/singer to play down on his luck tango singer with whom Eva has her first love affair. This role will also appear in the Ensemble. Legit high tenor to G (& above).

TANGO COUPLE; (18-40) Seeking accomplished dance couple proficient in Argentine Tango. Singing a plus.

ADULT ENSEMBLE: (18-55) Seeking a broad range of males and females of all ethnicities who are excellent singers. Opera, Musical Theatre or Pop singers of all shapes are encouraged to audition to play everything from Generals to Peasants and be part of a fully featured, versatile ensemble. Seeking Singers who Move, Singers who Dance and Dancers who Sing.

CHILDRENS ENSEMBLE: Looking for 5 boys and 5 girls ages 7-15. Must sing and be able to hold harmonies.

Some of the roles will be understudied.
