CONTRACT

SPT SPT level 7; $510/week

SEEKING

All roles are open, principal and chorus. Actors must be able to have great acting, vocal and dance/movement abilities. Ensemble actors will understudy lead roles.

PREPARATION

Please prepare a 32 bar selection in a style consistent with the character(s) for which you are interested in. Please choose from the modern musical theatre. Please bring a picture and resume, stapled together. Accompanist provided. Dance Callbacks are after the call. Please have character shoes.

BREAKDOWN

EVA PERÓN
Female. Character ages 15-33. Projects both toughness and charisma. Ambitious, beautiful, passionate, and power-hungry. A woman not afraid to use her sexuality to achieve her goals. Must be a trained vocalist with strong vocal stamina and excellent control. A legit Mezzo with a clear, strong mix; can belt to a high G and sing to a low E (below middle C). Strong actor who will also be dancing.

JUAN PERON
MALE. Mid 40s-Late 50s. Officer in the Argentine army, later the Argentine President. A man who is dignified, charming, and authoritative. A strong actor and singer who can move well. Vocal bass/baritone to high F.

CHE GUEVARA
MALE. Character ages ages 18-35. Dashing, impulsive and manipulative. Che is a radical political activist, he asks tough questions and demands answers. An actor/singer that must move very well with a high, rock tenor voice. Sings a low A to high B, falsetto to high F.

AUGUSTIN MAGALDI
MALE. 25-50. A tango singer and charming loser – on the cusp of famous. Thinks he’s bigger than life and has the ego to match, but he’s really not. A Latin American “personality” type but real at the same time. This actor also appears in the ensemble, must dance. Sings high tenor High G.

PERON’S MISTRESS
FEMALE. 18-25. An innocent-looking young woman. Beautiful, vulnerable, sensual, but no match for Eva. Must have a sweet sounding high mix; doubles as ensemble and must dance; high mix/belt; Low A to E.

ENSEMBLE
Characters are female and male, 18-70. All ethnicities. Member of an eclectic ensemble of men and women who play many different characters: Eva’s family, Eva’s lovers, descamisado’s, generals/military officers, priests, entertainers, hustlers, white-collar workers, aristocrats, soldiers, bodyguards, laborers, politicians, dressers, makeup artists, and nurses. Must dance. All body types are welcome. Must portray the many different people surrounding this diverse world. Must have very strong vocal technique; flexible range and dance ability.

CHILDREN’S CHORUS & ENSEMBLE
3 boys and 3 girls, ages 7-14. Female/Male. Any ethnicity. Child with an innocent look to be used throughout the show. Must sing, and be able to hold harmonies. Flexible vocal range.
