BREAKDOWN

There is only one actor, any gender, any race, but just one. Probably in their 20’s or 30’s. The “Narrator” will never be called that in performance, but we’ll use the real first name of the actor we cast. The play was developed in the UK and has British colloquialisms, which we’ll replace with American ones. No foreign dialect (beyond any the actor playing the role might naturally have) will be utilized. The actor who is cast must be charming, engaging, warm. The actor must be equally adept at comedy and drama. They must have the ability to draw an audience in with their honesty and their storytelling, to make an audience feel at home. Experience and expertise in improvisation with others would be a vital advantage. Most importantly, the show must not feel gimmicky, but real. The actor should radiate honesty and empathy, without seeming performative.
