SEEKING
Equity actors to fulfill one equity contract for THE WILD PARTY and one equity contract for WATER BY THE SPOONFUL. (See Breakdown)

All races, ethnicities, genders, and body types are encouraged to submit.

SEE PREPARATION IN BREAKDOWN. Submit your video audition to the email provided. In the subject line: name/show title/submission. In the body of the email: full name, roles or productions interested in being considered for, union status, and if you require housing and or transportation. Submission deadline: October, 14 at noon Eastern Time.

THE WILD PARTY

Two explosive lovers, Queenie and Burrs are throwing a party-to-end-all-parties… and you’re invited! It’s Manhattan in the 1920’s, and when these two vaudeville performers invite a vivacious group of guests — things are bound to get steamy. As the drinks flow throughout the evening, Burrs grows jealous of Queenie’s latest attraction, Mr. Black, and things turn violent. But who will be there to clean up the mess when the party's over?

A NOTE ON CASTING FOR THE WILD PARTY: Production team seeks a diverse cast of performers with a range of talents, particularly those with a circus background, acrobatics, burlesque, juggling, ventriloquists, etc. Performers of allacial backgrounds and gender identities will be considered for all roles. Some characters may also be expected to portray non-consensual intimacy. Please familiarize yourself with the subject matter of this production as you consider which roles would work within your boundaries of portraying on stage.

AVAILABLE ROLES/ CAST DESCRIPTIONS:

Mr. Black - Male, 25-35, Strong, handsome, and poised without being posed. An enigmatic loner. Protective. No-nonsense kind of guy who cannot understand Queenie's attraction to Burrs. African-American. Vocal Range: F3-G5.

Burrs - Male, 30-40, Handsome. A professional clown. Dangerous and charming all at once. Sexually ravenous and drawn to Queenie like a moth to the flame. Hurts somewhere deep inside, and slowly descends into jealous insanity. Character portrays non-consensual intimacy. Vocal Range G3-A5.

Dolores - Female, 30-40, A party-goer pitching ideas and hoping to score with Sam. A wild woman of the night. Vocal Range: A3-A5.

Eddie - Male, 30-40, Mae's husband who is perhaps even more dim-witted than she is. A big oaf. Can be a lovable teddy bear but also a quick tempered brute. Adores his wife. Performers who excel in acrobatics and/or lifting heavy weight are encouraged to submit. Vocal Range: A3-A5.

Kate - Female, 20-30, A lush. Likes to be the life of the party. Always looking out for number one, and is jealous of Queenie. Sexy, sensual, and confident. Vocal Range F3-E5.

Madelaine True - Female, 40-55, A tired woman with even more tired eyes and a cruel mouth. An announced lesbian. Sexually hungry. Blunt and very dry. Vocal Range: A3-E5.

Mae - Female, 25-45, Eddie's wife. Sweet and beautiful, but not particularly bright. Adores her husband and dotes on him. Performers who excel in acrobatics are encouraged to submit. Vocal Range: A3-D5.

Sam - Male, 30-50, Busy producer and attention whore. Trying to avoid the outrageous pitches made by Dolores, until it becomes sexual. Vocal Range: A3-A5.

Oscar D'armano - Male, 25-35, Phil's brother and lover who dresses as his twin. A composer and an entertainer in every sense of the word. Very flamboyant. Performers who excel in puppetry and/or ventriloquism are encouraged to submit. Vocal Range: A3-B5.

Phil D'armano- Male, 25-35, Oscar's brother and lover who dresses as his twin. A composer and an entertainer in every sense of the word. Very flamboyant. Performers who excel in puppetry and/or ventriloquism are encouraged to submit. Vocal Range: A3-A5.

Queenie - Female, 20-30, Blonde and beautiful. Sexy. Looks a little older and more tired than her age would indicate. Afraid of being alone. Has become addicted to Burrs' presence and ravenous sexual appetite. Character portrays non-consensual intimacy. Vocal Range: F3-F5.

Nadine - Female, 16-18, The only minor at the party. Waifish and somewhat naïve. She is in over her head and trying to keep up. Vocal Range: A3-A5.

Max - Male, 25-35, One of the party goers and a member of the usual gang. He is full of life and energy. Vocal Range: A3-B5.

WATER BY THE SPOONFUL

Army veteran Elliot Ortiz is back from Iraq, now working at a hoagie shop in North Philly caring for his sick mother and navigating a new life. Meanwhile, an online support group of four addicts are each on their personal journeys towards recovery. Spoonful by spoonful, day by day, each of them must learn how to open their hearts and minds to an unlikely cyber community. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for drama, Water by the Spoonful by Quiara Alegria Hudes (book writer of hit musical In the Heights) is a heartwarming story about the true meaning of family, brimming with hope and redemption.

AVAILABLE ROLES/ CAST DESCRIPTIONS:

Elliot Ortiz - Male, 20-25, Latinx, An aspiring model and post Iraq war vet with a limp. The biological son of Odessa and adopted son of Ginny (who does not appear in the play). He is plagued by hallucinations from his violent past.

Yazmin Ortiz - Female, 25-30, Latinx, Elliot’s cousin, niece to Odessa and adjunct professor at Swarthmore College.

Odessa Ortiz - Female, 35-40, Latinx, Elliot’s biological mother who goes by the alias Haikumom on her Narcotics Anonymous site. Lives in poverty and works as a janitor.

Chutes&Ladders - Male, 55-60, African-American, A recovering addict from Haikumom’s (Odessa’s) site. Also known as Clayton “Buddy” Wilkie. An IRS employee in San Diego who develops a close bond with Orangutang (Madeleine Mays).

Orangutang - Female, 20-30, A recovering addict from Haikumom’s (Odessa’s) site, born Yoshiko Sakai, now known in real life as Madeleine Mays. Adopted from Japan by white parents as a baby, she has now returned to Japan later in life to discover her identity.

Fountainhead - Male, 35-40, White, An addict on Haikumom’s (Odessa’s) site. Real name John, a Philadelphia Main Line resident. Married with children.

A Ghost - Male, 30-35, A manifestation of Elliot’s first kill, repeats the line “Can I have my passport back?” in Arabic. Also plays a Japanese policeman and Yazmin’s colleague at Swarthmore College, Arabic studies professor Aman.
