Ibi Owolabi will direct Poof! by Lynn Nottage, which finds one woman grappling with what to do just moments after her abusive husband spontaneously combusts.
Nadia Guevara will direct Cell by Cassandra Medley, which follows 3 women working at an immigrant detention center and “deftly explores the dirty antidemocratic secret of institutionalized racism” (New York Times).

POOF! CHARACTER
LOUREEN: Black woman, Early 30s, Loureen is a housewife on the verge of a breakdown or a breakthrough. Southern Georgia dialect preferred.
FLORENCE: Black woman, Early 30s, Florence is a housewife and Loureen’s best friend. Florence must also perform a balancing act to support Loureen. Southern Georgia dialect preferred.
CELL CHARACTER
RENE - (She/her, Black. 50s) Cerise’s older sister and Gwen’s aunt. A utilitarian survivalist, jaded.
CERISE - (She/her, Black. 45 years old) Rene’s younger sister and Gwen’s mom. Yearning for stability, desperate for atonement.
GWENDOLYN - (She/her, Black. 23 years old) Cerise’s daughter. Compassionate and curious about the world.
