SEEKING

Actors for the 2020 Davis Shakespeare Festival, featuring The Tempest, Into the Woods, and Frankenstein.

PREPARATION

The Tempest: 1 one-minute verse monologue.
Frankenstein: 1 one-minute contemporary monologue. British dialect encouraged, not required.
Into the Woods: One of the above plus 16 bars of a song. Please bring music (accompanist provided).

THE TEMPEST

All roles available. Open to all genders for all characters.

INTO THE WOODS

All roles available. Doubling Narrator/Mysterious Man + Cinderella’s Prince/Wolf.

FRANKENSTEIN

NOTE: Seeking actors who have proficiency with British dialects.

VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN (MALE, Late 20’s—Late 30’s) A genius scientist whose vigor and passion make him feel like an outsider in society.

DE LACEY/MONSIEUR FRANKENSTEIN (MALE, Mid 50’s—Mid 70’s) DE LACY: The educated father of Felix who teaches The Creature everything he can. His blindness allows him the capability of seeing the Creature’s innermost character without prejudice. MONSIEUR FRANKENSTEIN: Victor’s father. A grieving family man who longs for Victor to have a normal life that society deems acceptable.

ELIZABETH LAVENZA/Ensemble: (FEMALE, 20’s—30’s) Victor’s fiancée and cousin. Strong-willed and passionate about her love for life and Victor.

CLARICE/AGATHA/Ensemble: (FEMALE, 20’s—30’s) CLARICE: Elizabeth’s wise and supportive maid. AGATHA: Felix’s wife and De Lacey’s daughter-in-law. She is strong, caring, and hopeful as she runs the farm with her husband.

EWAN/GUSTAV/Ensemble:(MALE, 30’s—60’s) EWAN: Rab’s uncle. A poor farmer working various jobs to make ends meet. He and his nephew are hired by Victor to find parts for a female creature. GUSTAV: A poor nomad. He is Klaus’ companion.

FELIX/RAB/Ensemble: (MALE, 20’s—30’s) FELIX: De Lacey’s son. Runs the farm with his wife, Agatha. He is loving and protective. RAB: Ewan’s nephew who is forced to take on the job of digging up graves for money.

KLAUS/Ensemble: (MALE, 30’s—60’s) A rough yet fun-loving nomad who is friends with Gustav.
