AN ORIGINAL TWO ACT MUSICAL. “Cindy & The Disco Ball” is a reimagined telling of the Cinderella story set in 1976 Los Angeles. When the school district begins to cut funding for the arts, the teenagers at Pacific Palisades High take matters into their own hands. With a super fly Soul Sister setting the scene, Cindy and her fellow high school classmates take the teenage experience into their own hands. What they discover is that life is not only about fashion and fabulous-ness, but more importantly standing up for something that matters and joining forces for good.

The cast of seven will be joined by a 5-piece live band on stage. Minimum of 100 hours rehearsal over 4-week rehearsal/tech period.

SEEKING:

ALL ROLES and UNDERSTUDIES

ALL CHARACTERS TO SING AND DANCE IN THIS MUSICAL.

CINDY: Any ethnicity, female (18+ to play high school) A bright heroine who finds her confidence in a sea of high school drama. She is charming, spunky, and the person that you wish you were friends with, but she hangs on the sidelines… until she doesn’t. She is destined for greatness, and she is on her way to find that out. Funny and quirky and adorable. Pop-belt vocal to a C.

ELEANOR: Any ethnicity, female (18+ to play high school) She is fashionable, funny, and fabulous in every sense of the word. She covers her insecurities by adopting a sassy attitude, and is especially demanding of her stepsister, Cindy. She’s a flirt with the boys and enjoys being a villain. Pop vocal to a D.

TOMMY: Any ethnicity, male (18+ to play high school) A modern-day charmer. He is ambitious and knows what he wants in life. He is bold, kind and is looked at as a dreamy teen idol, yet he is totally oblivious to his appeal. Tenor to A flat.

BUDDY: Any ethnicity male (18+ to play high school) A physically fit high school track star. His focus is not studying, but rather racing to the top of the leader board, getting into the varsity team, and ultimately being in the Olympics. Great dancer. Has a heart of gold. Baritone/Tenor to F.

KRISTIE: Any ethnicity, female (18+ to play high school) A super-stylish teen who has a no-nonsense edge. She surfs and has a side-hustle writing with Tommy in the school newsroom. She prefers to be called Kris and knows that she does not need to conform to any idea of what a woman needs to be. Pop vocal.

PABLO: Any ethnicity, male (18+ to play high school) Bilingual to speak Spanish. He loves LA and art. He comes from a family that has worked hard to have a place in the community owning one of the after-school hangouts for the kids from school. He is an artist. He is a leader. Tenor.

SOUL SISTER: Black, female (35-50) Trans and nonbinary actors encouraged to audition. She is the adult in the room. She is one step ahead of the rest. A disco diva that some might consider a storybook Fairy Godmother come-to-life with fabulous hair, threads and shoes. She is bold and strong and says what needs to be said. She has larger than life superstar presence! A true 70s icon personified. Pop vocal to F with a strong mix.
