This enchanting Tony®-nominated musical fairytale will put a spell on audiences of all ages. In partnership with Deaf Austin Theatre and performed simultaneously in English and American Sign Language, Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella showcases some of your favorite tunes including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible” and “Ten Minutes Ago,” in this funny, modern adaptation from the delightful Broadway revival. Add a dash of romance, a splash of stage magic–and POOF!–you’re guaranteed to have a ball!

SEEKING:

ELLA (Cinderella) (Female, 20s, Any Ethnicity, Deaf) Kind hearted beauty with an infectious generosity of spirit. She dreams of escaping her endless chores so she might one day see the world.

TOPHER (Male, 20s – early 30s, Any Ethnicity, Hearing) The prince of the kingdom leads with heroic bravado but deeply naïve and not always quick on the draw. In search of his purpose. His kindhearted nature spills into an endearing goofiness at times.

MADAME (Female, 40s – 50s, Any Ethnicity, Hearing) Ella’s selfish stepmother. A vain and tyrannical climber. Deeply concerned with status and image and entirely dismissive of her stepdaughter. Madame does not consider Ella, her stepdaughter, a true daughter.

GABRIELLE (Female, 20s – 30s, Any Ethnicity, Hard of Hearing) Ella’s stepsister and daughter of Madame. Begins aligned with her materialistic mother and sister but her kindness and thoughtful nature emerge as she is affected by Ella and love interest John-Michel. Perhaps a bit quirky and cut from a different mold than the social climbers around her.

CHARLOTTE (Female, Late 20s – 30s, Any Ethnicity, Hearing) Ella’s stepsister and daughter of Madame. Deeply self-involved, attention seeker. Loud, brash and delights in being cocky. Lacks self-awareness and often the last one in on the joke.

MARIE (40s – 60s, Any Ethnicity, Deaf) First presents as a poor individual but is revealed as Ella’s fairy godmother in disguise. Warm with a spark of wackiness they lift the magic in the show and highlights what is possible!

JEAN MICHEL (Male, 20s – 30s, Any Ethnicity, Deaf) An enthusiastic revolutionary determined to make a difference. Energized and on his way to becoming a leader. Jean- Michel is in love with Gabrielle.

SEBASTIAN (Male, 40s – 60s, Any Ethnicity, Hearing) Topher’s Lord Chancellor. He actively shields the Prince from what is occurring in his kingdom and revels in maintaining his own power. Disregarding villagers in need he is primarily concerned with preserving the wealthy and the reach of his power.

LORD PINKELTON (Male, 30s – 50s, Any Ethnicity, Fluent in American Sign Language) Sebastian’s second-in-command and the herald for all balls and events. Announces royal balls, banquets and even the weather.

ENSEMBLE (All ethnicities, ages, and gender identities).
