Breakdown

EMCEE: MALE 20’s to 30’s German (accent) Must be a triple threat: Dance Sing Act Must be in great shape athletic Able to move This lead character is a sexually adventurous charismatic entertainer who breaks the fourth wall and engages the audience. He is also the bridge between the world of the Cabaret and the Storyline. Must be willing to go shirtless and have his face painted. Lots of Dialogue and Monologues and Solos.

CLFF: MALE 20’s American (no accent) Actor and Singer This lead character is the romantic lead of the story. He is a writer and the basic protagonist from whose eyes we see everything. He must be able to carry the show, have a strong acting ability with a range of emotion. Barely any dancing. Must be willing to stage kiss. Lots of Dialogue and 2 songs.

ERNST: MALE 20’s German (accent) Actor and Singer This principal character is an amiable Nazi sympathizer, a street wise smuggler who seems to know everyone, he likes a good party, means well but is misguided. We are looking for an actor who is everyone’s favorite friend. Lots of Dialogue, 1 song.

HERR SCHULTZ: MALE 40 and over (looks older) German – Jew (accent) Actor and Singer This principal character is a sweet, loving and honest German who also happens to be a Jew during the rise of Fascism in Germany. He owns a Flower shop and falls in love with Fraulein Schneider. He must be charming and convincing and likeable and able to play a strong range of emotion. He must be able to move (light dancing, gets knocked to the grown, light fight scene). Must be willing to stage kiss. Lots of Dialogue, a few songs, 1 duet.

MAX: MALE 40 and over German (accent) Actor very little signing and little dancing the owner of the Kit Kat Club Is controlling and insecure is money hungry and dishonest Is hated by his employees. A few lines.

Kit Kat Boys: Victor Bobby 2 MALE German (accent) MUST BE STRONG DANCERS! Singers Actors 1 will double as the Gorilla All must be willing to work with audience for audience participation scenes Victor and Bobby must be willing to slow dance together.

SALLY BOWLES: FEMALE Mezzo Soprano 20’s English Accent Must be a triple threat : Dance Sing Act This lead character is a sexy and charismatic and lonely lounge singer with big dreams to make it to the “big time.” She has trouble with relationships. She smokes and drinks. Must be willing to style hair. Lots of Dialogue, Lots of Singing and dancing. Must be willing to stage kiss.

FRAULEIN SCHNEIDER: Female 40 and over German (accent) This lead character is a world-weary owner of an apartment block where much of the action outside the Kit Kat Club takes place. Is a kind woman who simply wants to avoid loosing money. Falls for Herr Schultz. Does not approve of Fraulein Kost. Lots of Dialogue, Singing and duet. Must be willing to stage kiss.

FRAULEIN KOST: Female 40 and over German (accent) This principal character is a sexually dubious and selfish character who is not afraid of speaking her mind and admitting to her indiscretions. She is also a Nazi sympathizer. Dialogue, and some singing. Must be willing to stage kiss sailors.

Kit Kat GIRLS: Texas (American) Rosie (English) Frenchie (French) Helga (German) Females 20’s 30’s Various (accents) These principal DANCERS SINGERS ACTORS (Triple Threats) must be very strong versatile dancers who can sing and act and are willing to wear suggestive clothing. Above all they must work well together as a team and have strong chemistry.
