Breakdown
BERNARD (30-40) – A handsome, smooth-talking, likable playboy. American architect living in Paris. He is a combination of Don Draper and Jack Tripper. A ladies man who thinks he has the fairer sex completely figured out.
BERTHE (35 – 55) – Possible character woman. Bernard's long-suffering, very efficient, extremely organized, French housekeeper. Sardonic and dry, outwardly disdainful of Bernard’s arrangement but completely devoted to him. She is the engine that keeps the machine running. French accent required.
ROBERT (30-40) – Bernard’s best friend and school chum. A likeable, easygoing type who gets caught up in the circus that is his friend’s love life. Although he may come off as quiet and unassuming at first, as the play progresses, he settles into the role of cunning, romantic lead quite naturally.
GABRIELLA (25-35) – Italian Air Hostess. Gabriella is beautiful, passionate, aggressive, fiery - a la early 60s Italian cinema - Sophia Loren. Italian accent required.
GLORIA (25-35) – American Air Hostess. Strong, beautiful, assertive, sure of herself. Absolutely committed to her unique perspective on the world. She’s upbeat, charming, and practical; she is a woman who knows what she wants.
GRETCHEN (25-35) – German Air Hostess. Tall, aggressive, beautiful – The most insecure of the three, although her innate passionate response to the world makes her seem the strongest and the most terrifying. Straight forward, loyal, aggressive, filled with passion, has a strong physical presence. German accent required.
