BREAKDOWN
BELLE - Female, 20-30, a beautiful, vibrant, intelligent girl who wants more out of the life than an ordinary existence. She is optimistic, fun-loving, caring, and eager to experience life. Contemporary soprano with strong mix/belt.
BEAST - Male, late 20s – late 30s, a prince transformed into a terrifying beast for his lack of compassion. He is hot-tempered and commanding, but has a warm, loving heart buried beneath his gruff exterior. Tall and physically imposing. Strong Baritone to an F.
GASTON - Male, about 30-40, the egotistical, ultra-masculine, physically imposing villain determined to marry Belle. He is manipulative and smooth in his villainy. Imposing physicality is a must. Must be able to move well. Strong Baritone to an F.
LEFOU - Male, 20s-30s, 5’ and under. Gaston’s bumbling sidekick. He is loyal, energetic and optimistic but not quite the brightest guy. Physical humor is a must for this role. Must be able to move well. Tumbling and acrobatics a huge plus. Character baritone to an F#.
MAURICE - Male, about 50-60, Belle’s loving, eccentric father. A child at heart and inventor in his own world. Character baritone.
COGSWORTH - Male, about 30-45, a tightly-wound, enchanted mantle clock and the head of Beast’s household. He is uptight, strict, and punctual but also hard-working, faithful, and thorough. Baritone to an E.
LUMIERE - Male, about 30-45, a suave, debonair, enchanted candelabra. He is a loyal and steadfast servant. Must be able to move well. Baritone to an F#.
MRS. POTTS - Female, could be 30-50, a warm-hearted, maternal enchanted teapot. She is loyal, caring and playful. Sings the title song. Warm mezzo soprano voice to a G.
BABETTE - Female, 20s – 30s, a sexy, saucy, enchanted feather-duster and the object of Lumiere’s affections. She is a playful, gorgeous French maid. Must be able to move well. Alto.
MADAME DE LA GRANDE BOUCHE - Female, could be 35-55, A former opera diva-turned- enchanted wardrobe. She is caring, refined, larger than life personality. Operatic Soprano.
CHIP : Child, male, age 6-10, NO TALLER THAN 3'. Mrs. Potts’ son, an inquisitive little tea cup, charming, and has a wide-eyed innocence that endears him to all of the servants. Looking for a confident child actor who is comfortable singing solo lines. Vocal range top: D5. Vocal range bottom: D4
Monsieur D'arque: Male, Age: 30 – 50. The scheming proprietor of the local insane asylum. He is a dark, sinister villain who aides Gaston in his plot to marry Belle. *This role will also be in the ensemble numbers throughout the show and double as the Bookseller.
The Silly Girls: 3 Females: Gaston’s admirers. Must sing and have good comedic timing. Ensemble.
Carpet: Male. Advanced Tumbling Skills, including consecutive back-handsprings, and tumbling passes. Ensemble.
Ensemble Singers/Dancers: 20-50. Male and female. Great singers, technical dancers and character actors. All ethnicities and types for all roles welcome. Ensemble includes various townspeople, enchanted objects, and wolves.
