Please prepare a pop song of your choice from the 60's, 70's or 80's. Bring sheet music please. Also, bring your headshot and resume stapled together.

CAROLE KING, GERRY GOFFIN, and CYNTHIA WEIL have been cast.

BARRY MANN (25-32) Character identifies as White. A songwriter who becomes romantically involved with Cynthia. He is good natured, appealing & neurotic. Ambitious, but likeable. Comedic with a great voice. A strong high tenor comfortable with pop & rock style singing. C3-A4 - tenor.

DON KIRSCHNER (35-48) Character identifies as White. An influential music publisher and producer. He is a fast talking, energetic force of nature. Powerful, direct & sometimes intimidating, but he has a real affinity for his writers and artists. A hit maker. A2-C#4 - baritone.

GENIE (40s-50s) Character identifies as White. Carole’s Jewish mother. Once an aspiring playwright, she has been broken down by life & her husband’s infidelity. Protective of Carole and unforgiving of her husband’s mistakes. Role does not need to sing.

THE SHIRELLES/ENSEMBLE: Black. Characters identify as Female, 20s-30s. Seeking charismatic singers/actors/movers to portray multiple characters. LUCILLE – Don’s tough as nails secretary. SHIRLEY – a Shirelle who sings lead on “Will You Love Me Tomorrow”. LITTLE EVA – Carole’s babysitter, turned singing sensation of “The Locomotion”. Bb3-E5 - mezzo/high belter. JANELLE WOODS – a gorgeous singer who sings lead on “One Fine Day”. Strong singers and movers. G#3-D5 - mezzo/belter.

THE DRIFTERS/ENSEMBLE: Black. Characters identify as Male, 20s-30s. Seeking charismatic singers/movers/actors to portray various roles, including THE DRIFTERS, who are featured in songs including “On Broadway”, “Up on the Roof” and “Some Kind of Wonderful”. Strong singers and movers. High tenors & high baritones. Lead Drifter (Up On The Roof, Some Kind of Wonderful): B2- Ab4 or B4 full-voice, up to Eb5 strong falsetto - tenor with strong lower register, or Bari-tenor with extensive upper register.

NICK/LOW RIGHTEOUS BROTHER/ENSEMBLE: Character identifies as White Male, 20s-30s. Seeking a strong singer/actor to play multiple roles. NICK – an attractive, friendly guitarist at the Bitter End. LOW RIGHTEOUS BROTHER (Bill Medley) – acts as half of the Righteous Brothers duo who sing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” & others. Excellent singer with low baritone/ bass notes. F2-G4 - Bari-tenor. This role typically understudies GERRY GOFFIN.

LOU ADLER/HIGH RIGHTEOUS BROTHER/ENSEMBLE: Character identifies as White Male. 20s- 30s. Seeking a strong singer/actor to play multiple roles. LOU ADLER – a genius music producer.

HIGH RIGHTEOUS BROTHER (Bobby Hatfield) – acts as half of the Righteous Brothers duo who sing “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feeling” & others. High pop/rock tenor. F3-Bb4 (strong falsetto up to F5) - high tenor. This role typically understudies BARRY MANN.

MARILYN/ENSEMBLE: Character identifies as Female. 20s-30s. Seeking a strong singer/actor to portray MARILYN – a gorgeous singer with a great voice & others. Soprano/Belt. (Pleasant Valley Sunday): G3-C5 - mezzo/belter. Possible Cynthia Weil understudy.

BETTY/ENSEMBLE: Character identifies as Female. 20s-30s. Strong actor/singer to play BETTY – Carole’s appealing, perky best friend in high school. Mezzo/Soprano belt. Possible Carole King and Genie Klein understudy.

LEONA SILVIA: 50-65. Character identifies as female. Any Ethnicity. The immigrant owner of Mystic Pizza and guardian of the Mystic Pizza special sauce. A sarcastic, wry, yet loving mother figure for Jo, Daisy, and Kat. Nearing retirement. Pop/Rock vocals – G3-E5.

BILL MONTIJO: 20s. Character identifies as Male. Any Ethnicity. The son of immigrants. A burly (ideally 6’+) yet warm, sensitive, lobsterman, and lead singer/guitarist in The Lobster Rolls - the local town band, who wants nothing more than to marry Jo and raise a family in Mystic, CT. Acoustic or electric guitar playing a plus. Pop/Rock vocals – F3-A5.

CHARLES GORDON WINDSOR JR.: 20s. Character identifies as a White Male. A country-club, sweater-vest-wearing, Porsche-driving, law-school-drop-out cad, with a surprising capacity for true love. Pop/Rock vocals – G2-B5.

TIM TRAVERS: 20s. Character identifies as Male. Any Ethnicity. An easy-going, Yale-graduate, architect, with a secret. Pop/Rock vocals – E3-A4.
