Breakdown

Two couples fight to learn the meaning of love, sacrifice, and living for today…before it’s too late.
Wall Street investment banker, Ian Brown, and his eight months pregnant wife, Stacy Gold, live in a beautiful Brooklyn Heights brownstone on Willow Street. When Stacy gives up her book publicist job to become a stay-at-home Mom, she soon gets bored with sitting on the Promenade, sipping Starbucks. With time on her hands, Stacy begins to fear losing what little intimacy she and Ian have left once the baby arrives.

Aspiring actor, Mark Gray, and his lover, Paul Green, have been living long-distance for the past two years. Mark keeps a studio on Willow Street, while Paul works as a lawyer in Boston, near his sick mother. When Mark learns of Paul’s mother’s dying wish to see him marry her son, he is faced with the reality of finally coming out to his parents. With time running out, Mark soon discovers what committing himself fully to another person truly entails.

seeking:

IAN BROWN
Male, 40-year-old investment banker living in Brooklyn Heights, originally from New Jersey. At the beck and call of his boss, Howard Lutnick, Ian works 60 hour weeks at Cantor Fitzgerald on Wall Street. He comes from a home where his “dead-beat” dad couldn’t hold down a job while his mom worked two; this is why Ian strives to make enough money so that his wife, Stacy, won’t ever have to work again once she becomes a mother. Ian’s goal is to retire at 50 and spend the rest of his life enjoying himself with Stacy and their soon-to-be born daughter, Lahna.

MARK GRAY
Male, 40-year-old, classically-trained actor living in Brooklyn Heights, originally from Boston, still hoping to “make it” in New York City. He has a fear that people won’t accept him once they find out he’s gay; this which is why Mark isn’t out to his working class parents. Afraid of the changes it will bring to his five year relationship with his lover, Paul, he keeps putting off having “the talk” with his parents at every chance he can get. Not stereo-typically gay, Mark does love musicals, particularly Xanadu.

PAUL GREEN
Male, 40-year-old class action lawyer and Log Cabin Republican, Paul only came out five years ago when he met his lover, Mark. For the past two years, Paul has been living in Boston, caring for his dying mother. He wants nothing more than to honor her wish to see him and Mark get married; this why Paul starts putting on the pressure for Mark to finally come out to his parents. A Starbucks junkie, Paul spends his weekends in Brooklyn Heights with Mark, when they’re not off vacationing in P-town.

STACY GOLD
Female, Ian’s wife of almost five years, soon-to-be 40 years old. She is a self-proclaimed “Jewish American Princess” from Greenwich, CT, and a Starbucks addict. At the urging of her husband, Stacy gives up her job as Publicity Director at Random House only to find that, despite all the complaints, she really did enjoy it. She’s afraid of the changes that having a child will bring to her marriage; this why Stacy wants nothing more than to spend a day alone with her husband at Coney Island.
