Actors of all ethnicities, gender identities and expressions, abilities, and body types are encouraged to attend.

PREPARATION
Please prepare a brief cut of a classic or classical musical theater song OR a traditional Christmas hymn that shows range. Please also prepare a short, 1 min monologue, with a British accent.

SEEKING:

BOB CRATCHIT - HIGH BARITONE, long suffering, downtrodden, a different man with his children. His family is all to him. A good hearted, caring fellow. ROLE HAS BEEN CAST

EBENEZER SCROOGE - HIGH BARITONE Male, 60’s, hates the world, frosty, miserly. Uncaring, love of money and little else. Disdainful. Has the ability to play high jollity and care. He slowly reveals the inner Scrooge as he understands what he has missing in his life. A man fighting with change. ROLE HAS BEEN CAST

FRED - HIGH BARITONE/TENOR, 20’s, bright, cheery, caring. Undeterred by his Uncle Scrooge’s bad humour, he is determined to stay merry and playful to the last. ROLE HAS BEEN CAST

JACOB MARLEY - TENOR, 60’s, wiry, gaunt, gloomy, haunted, a messenger of doom. Leaden and weighted down by the world. ROLE HAS BEEN CAST

CHRISTMAS PRESENT - WIDE RANGE BARITONE, tall, jolly, full of life, large voice with the spirit of Christmas surging through every vein. Embodiment of goodwill. All that is bright and cheerful follows him. ROLE HAS BEEN CAST

FEZZIWIG - TENOR, 50’s, generous, fun-loving, rotund and jolly. Caring. The epitome of a good man. Playful. ROLE HAS BEEN CAST

CHRISTMAS FUTURE - Non-speaking. Dark, foreboding, tall and malevolent.

CHRISTMAS PAST - MEZZO/ALTO quietly spoken, compassionate, thoughtful and pensive. Their purpose is solely to open the eyes of Scrooge to family and friends.

MRS CRATCHIT - MEZZO SOPRANO Female, 30’s, a strong woman with a heart of gold. She is loving and caring to her family and like a lioness in her protection of them. She can stand her ground, as she does to Scrooge.

MRS FEZZIWIG - SOPRANO, Late 40’s, the mirror image of her husband in female form.

MRS DILBER - MEZZO SOPRANO, Late 40’s, large, Scrooge’s housekeeper and laundress. Bold and brassy. Very low character.

BELLE - SOPRANO, Young Scrooge’s only love. A shop girl. Caring, thoughtful and slight. Pretty and honest.

CAROLER 1 - Female Presenting, SOPRANO.

CAROLER 2 - Female Presenting, ALTO.

CAROLER 3 - Male Presenting, TENOR.

CAROLER 4 - Male Presenting, Baritone/Bass.

ENSEMBLE - Male and Female presenting to sing in the ensemble with some small character parts. Note: All must read music well.

Everyone entering the audition venue (i.e., venue employees, Equity members, non-members, casting personnel, creatives, producers, musicians, COVID Safety Managers, etc.) will be required to undergo a symptom check and provide one of the following prior to entry into the venue:

Proof of full vaccination. “Fully vaccinated,” as defined by the CDC, is more than 14 calendar days following receipt of a final dose of an FDA or World Health Organization authorized or approved vaccine.

Proof of a negative PCR test result taken no earlier than 48 hours prior to entry into the audition venue.

Proof of two negative antigen test results (e.g., the first taken the night before and the second taken no less than 2 hours) prior to entry into the venue. Results of non-proctored at-home antigen tests will not be accepted.

Two-ply cloth face masks, surgical masks, singer’s masks and respirators (N95, KN95 or KF94) will be allowed for face coverings. Single-ply face masks, gaiters and bandanas are not acceptable face coverings. Everyone in the holding room and audition room will always wear a face covering as described above, except for the actor when they are actively auditioning. The time spent unmasked should be as minimal as possible. Face coverings must be worn correctly (covering the nose and mouth). If the risk level for Allegheny County is trending upwards and may rise to High (Red) we will contact members with appointments at least 24 hours before the first audition appointment time to let them know there is a chance that the auditions may need to be postponed or cancelled. All members with appointments will be notified if the auditions must be postponed or cancelled.

We encourage members to prepare for their audition at home, to the extent that they can (e.g., get dressed, hair/make-up, etc.) to avoid crowding in bathrooms and dressing rooms.

Holding/Audition room information:

The audition room can accommodate no more than 25 individuals at a time.

The holding room can accommodate no more than 18 individuals at a time.
