CONTRACT

LOA LOA/LORT. Agreement Pending. Previous minimum - $492/wk

SEEKING

Actors aged 17 and above, all ethnicities, to supplement the resident acting company. Local Hires preferred.

PREPARATION

Monologue(s) of your choice, no more than two minutes total.

BREAKDOWN

The Hiding Place (World Premiere)

First Rehearsal: August 13, 2019

Performances: September 11-October 6, 2019 (possible extension through October 13)

CORRIE TEN BOOM (50s) - Middle-aged woman, plain, generally reserved. Sister of Betsie and Willem. Daugther of Caspar.

CASPAR TEN BOOM (70s) - An elderly man with a cane. Slow, yet gentle and meticulous.

BETSIE TEN BOOM (50s) - Middle-aged woman, often sick. Always positive, yet possessed of an inner wisdom.

OTTO SCHWARZHUBER (20s) - A rude young German man who will come to wrestle with his own darkness.

PICKWICK (40s-50s) - Dutch politician who runs the underground resistance. Polite and jolly. (Also plays a prisoner at Ravensbruck)

WILLEM TEN BOOM (40s) - Younger than Corrie and Betsie. An eager and serious man. (Also plays a soldier, prisoner at Ravensbruck, and train attendant.)

LT. RAHMS (30s-40s) - A Nazi interrogator. Cordial and manipulative. (Also plays a prisoner at Ravensbruck and priest.)

FRED KOORNSTRA (40s-50s) - Dutch man who works in the Food Office and helps the underground. (Also plays a soldier and an overseer.)

MARY ITALIE (60s) - Sickly Jewish woman who hides with the Ten Boom family. (Also plays a prisoner at Ravensbruck)

MEYER MOSSEL (30s-40s) - Amiable Jewish man. (Also plays Moorman, an overseer at Ravensbruck)

META (40s) - Jewish woman who hides with the Ten Booms. (also plays a prisoner at Ravensbruck and a secretary)

THEA (40s) - Jewish woman who hides with the Ten Booms. (also plays a prisoner and nurse at Ravensbruck)

JAN VOGELS (30s) - Informant who betrays the Ten Boom family (also plays a workman and Henk)

THE BEAST - The guards' overseer at Ravensbruck. A snarling, brutal woman.

DORIS WALKER (W) - personnel manager at Macy's, with a cynical view of life

FRED GAYLEY (M) - a lawyer; neighbor and friend to Doris and Susan

DR. PIERCE (M or W) - physician at Maplewood Home, Kris's former home

SHELLHAMMER (M or W) - Mrs. Walker's assistant

SAWYER (M or W) - Macy's vocational guidance counselor; suspicious of Kris

JUDGE HARPER (M or W) - of the New York State court

MARA (M or W) - prosecuting attorney

MATT DRAYTON (67), white. Joanna's father. Publisher of a newspaper

JOANNA DRAYTON (23), white. Recently interned for a mecial research hospital in Hawaii

DR. JOHN PRENTICE (37), black. A medical research doctor

MONSIGNORE RYAN (75), white. Longtime family friend of the Draytons

JOHN PRENTICE SR (63), black. Dr. Prentice's father, a school teacher

MARY PRENTICE (59), black. Dr. Prentice's mother, a department store clerk
