SEEKING
Equity Actors/Singers/Dancers for roles in A CHORUS LINE (see breakdown).

All stage managerial positions have been filled.

All roles (unless noted in the breakdown) require advanced dancing and strong singing.

Chicago based performers are encouraged to submit.

Actors of all gender identities, ethnicities, ages, and disabilities will be fully and fairly considered for all roles and are encouraged to submit for said roles.

Actors auditioning for Mike Costa should include any dance or tap tricks they can comfortably do 8 shows per week.

Seeking:

All roles will be understudied by ensemble/swings.

Cassie Ferguson (30-35) – A gifted star, stand-out dancer with a reputation for featured roles in two Broadway shows. Complicated romantic history with Zach. A triple threat. Sings “The Music and the Mirror.” Audition Song – Cassie “Music and the Mirror”

Diana Morales (Hispanic/Latinx/Latine, 20-30) – Determined and athletic dancer from the Bronx. Funny, charming, and vulnerable. Sings “Nothing” and carries the company into “What I Did for Love.” Audition Song – “Nothing”

Judy Turner (28) – Funny, gawky, nervous. Warm and hopeful. Awkward except when she’s dancing. Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Val Clark (Late 20’s) – Sassy, funny. Excellent dancer who underwent plastic surgery due to industry pressure. A brazen, direct, attention-seeker from Vermont. Sings “Dance 10, Looks 3.” Audition Song – “Dance: Ten; Looks: Three”

Bebe Benzenheimer (mid 20’s) – Covers her irrational insecurity through attempted humor. Quiet and vulnerable. Sings middle harmony in “At the Ballet.” Audition Song – “At the Ballet”

Connie Wong (Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander, 20’s – early 30’s) – Experienced dancer, married. A “mother hen” with a great sense of humor. Born in Chinatown, New York. Plays 4’10”. Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Kristine Urich (18-25) – Al’s wife who can’t sing, but dances outrageously well. She is awkward, anxious, and hilarious. She “speaks” the song “Sing,” but does sing in the ensemble numbers. Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Maggie Winslow (20’s) – A dreamer and the “little sister” of the group. Fairly experienced dancer from a troubled home in California. Seeking a warm voice with a mix belt up to E natural for the climax of “At the Ballet.” Audition Song – “At the Ballet”

Sheila Bryant (30’s) – Oldest dancer on the line. Confident, brassy, humorous, and sophisticated. Sings the low harmony in “At the Ballet.” Audition Song – “At the Ballet”

Zach (30’s – early 40’s) – Charismatic, controlling, manipulative, calculated but brilliant Broadway director/choreographer. He seems to be in complete control, even when facing his personal relationship with Cassie. Traditionally non-singing role but should have solid movement/dance ability. Prepare 1–2-minute monologue in the style of the show and/or Audition Song (if actor sings) – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Larry (20’s – early 30’s) – Zach’s long-time assistant. Bright, helpful, confident, and a superb dancer. Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Bobby Mills (20’s) – Zestful, witty, and sharp tongued. Covers everything with a joke. Had an unusual upbringing in upstate New York. Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Mark Anthony (18 – early 20’s) – Optimistic, naïve, charming, and a great dancer. Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Mike Costa (20’s – early 30’s) – Determined, flirtatious, cocky, sure of himself, but likable. He’s worked with Zach before. From New Jersey. A strong tapper or has strong gymnastic skills. Audition Song – “I Can Do That”

Richie Walters (20’s – early 30’s) – From Missouri. Enthusiastic, cool, and very funny. Likeable and laid back. Strong dancer, dynamic falsetto. Audition Song – “Montage, Part 4”

Al Deluca (20’s – early 30’s) – From the Bronx. Kristine’s husband. From a working-class background. Strong singer. Sings in “Sing.” Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Paul San Marco (Hispanic/Latinx/Latine, mid – late 20’s) – Introverted and slightly insecure but loves to perform. From Spanish Harlem. Friends with Diana. Delivers a raw and vulnerable monologue about coming out to his parents. Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Don Kerr (20’s – early 30’s) – Married and into cars, money, and women. Very sure of himself. Cocky because he has worked with Zach before. From Kansas City. Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”

Gregory Gardener (20’s – early 30’s) – A sassy, droll smart-aleck. Has worked with Zach before. Very East Side New York. Audition Song – Ensemble & Other Principals “Opening: I Hope I Get It”
