LAGUNA PLAYHOUSE is thrilled to welcome you back to see Denny and the Dreamers perform all your favorite songs from the 50s and 60s in SH-BOOM! LIFE COULD BE A DREAM, written and created by Roger Bean, musical direction by Nick Guerrero with direction & choreography by Jonathan Van Dyke. LIFE COULD BE A DREAM! Our 100th season was delayed but we are celebrating this historic milestone all year long with one of our best seasons ever! SH-BOOM! LIFE COULD BE A DREAM begins previews on Wednesday, October 13; will open on Sunday, October 17 at 5:30pm and perform through Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Drive in Laguna Beach.Hey cool cats! Take a trip to Springfield and meet the Crooning Crabcakes as they prepare to enter the Big Whopper Radio contest and realize their dreams of making it to the big time!The '60s hits say it all: Fools Fall in Love, Tears on my Pillow, Runaround Sue, Earth Angel, Stay, Unchained Melody, Lonely Teardrops, and The Glory of Love. This delightful, award-winning jukebox musical, written and created by Roger Bean (The Marvelous Wonderettes), will leave you laughing, singing, and cheering lets hear it for the boys! ABOUT THE CAST AND CREATIVE TEAMROGER BEAN (Author) created the long-running hit The Marvelous Wonderettes (over 1,200 performances Off-Broadway), along with the sequels Wonderettes: Caps & Gowns, Winter Wonderettes, Wonderettes: Dream On, and the new large-cast Wonderettes: Glee Club Edition. Original cast albums for all Wonderettes shows are available from iTunes and Amazon. The Marvelous Wonderettes received the 2007 LA Ovation Award for Best Musical for its record-breaking Los Angeles run. Mr. Beans doo-wop hit Life Could Be A Dream had a record-breaking 12-month run in Los Angeles, receiving the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award, the LA Weekly Theatre Award, and the Backstage Garland Award for Outstanding Musical. Other popular musicals created by Mr. Bean include The Andrews Brothers, Summer of Love, Route 66, Honky Tonk Laundry, and Why Do Fools Fall In Love?, all published by Stage Rights. JONATHAN VAN DYKE (Director/Choreographer) Most recently appeared in the Laguna Playhouse production of Mamma Mia! as Sam. As a director and choreographer, his work includes productions of Boeing Boeing, The Wiz, West Side Story, Jerrys Girls, I Love a Piano, Beehive, Pippin, Cinderella, Breaking Up is Hard To Do: The Music of Neil Sedaka, and Closer Than Ever. A member of the Dramatists Guild, he has written the plays Totally Electric (The Duplex, The Aurora Fox, The Ritz and The Abbey) and the award-winning Spring at the Willowbrook Inn which featured Greg Louganis, Wesley Eure and Sean McDermott. His seasonal show Holiday Incorporated is produced annually. NICK GUERRERO (Musical Director) is a music director, vocal coach, and collaborative pianist originally from Huntsville, AL. Nick graduated with a B.M. in Piano Performance from The University of Alabama and an M.M. in Musical Theatre/Opera Conducting from Ithaca College. In addition to his professional work as a music director, Nick writes musical theatre songs and hopes to eventually release an album. The Cast of SH-BOOM! LIFE COULD BE A DREAM will feature: Willie Beaton II (The Wedding Singer at Surflight Theatre, 42nd Street at Ogunquit Playhouse), as Wally, Alex Fullerton (Singin in the Rain, Crazy For You) as Denny, Noah A. Lyon (Hello Dolly!, Anything Goes), as Eugene, Dorian Quinn (Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia) as Duke and Sophia Swannell (Mamma Mia! at Laguna Playhouse, U.S. National Tour of Sweet Charity) as Lois. The Design Team for SH-BOOM! LIFE COULD BE A DREAM is as follows: Scenic Design is by Chris Strangfeld; Lighting Design by Anthony Marinaro; Costume Design by Madison Queen and Ellie Chaffee; Sound Design by Ian Wehrle. Musical Arrangements are by Roger Bean, Michael Borth, Jon Newton & Steve Parsons. The Production Supervisor is Gail Anderson. The Artistic Supervisor is Steve Steiner. LIFE COULD BE A DREAM begins previews on Wednesday, October 13; will open on Sunday, October 17 at 5:30pm and perform through Sunday, October 31, 2021 at the Laguna Playhouse, 606 Laguna Canyon Drive in Laguna Beach.Performances will be Wednesdays through Fridays at 7:30pm; Saturdays at 2pm & 7:30pm; Sundays at 1:00pm. There will be added performances on Thursday, October 14 at 2pm; Tuesday, October 19 at 7:30pm; Sunday, October 24 at 5:30pm and Thursday, October 28 at 2pm.
